No point in finishing last only to walk away with Gibbs, Petterd, Schmidt and Everitt in this draft. Back to back spoons with less wins and we're going to be no better off than Port if either of those kids don't make it.

It's easy to criticise mate (that's a general comment, nothing wrong with your picks HBF ;)) , but why not offer up a few names that should have been taken instead of just critising the ones that were taken.

Pity you missed out on Renouf or N.Brown, Im sure you would have taken that option 3rd round.

What is Scmidt all about? Who are you lining up for next round?

Schmidt plays on the HBF, but could also play on the wing. Pretty good kick and has ok leg speed. IMO, SA's second best player at the champs behind Gibbs. He also reads the game pretty well and sets up attacks from the Half back line.

As for my next selection, i'm tossing up between a couple more mids and perhaps a defender.

Your obvoiusly keen to pick up a developing ruck in next years draft, you should consider a smokey. What is that kids name who transfered from basketball and is playing for a Amatuer under 19 team. Maybe you can have a crack at him with our remaining picks.

Adelaide Pick #50 - Todd Pfieffer (North Adelaide)

Todd is a class player who is poised and uses his skills well. Despite an ordinary championship he has dominated every level he has played and made his league SANFL debut this year and held his own admirably. To continue the replenishment of Adelaide's ageing midfield, Todd's footy smarts will be certainly something Neil Craig is after, wins plenty of the ball, uses it well and can kick some goals from the middle.

My criticism wasn't directed at HBF. ;)

A PP after the first round is a joke when your list is as poor as Carlton's and we were shafted due to the tanking of Hawthorn and Collingwood last year. The AFL change their policy on the run due to the media or forums like this discussing an issue.

Picks 17 and 19 aren't to be sneezed at but they could also be flops and I have doubts about Gibbs staying in Victoria.

I've sent him a PM so he knows he's up next. I'm about to jump offline for an hour or so, so i've sent a PM to Gilly1972 to let him know who I was going to select.

Selection 52-Essendon - Robert Eddy- Gippsland

Not only is he a ball magnet but he also has great skills, scouts may be concernerd about his pace but there are plenty like him in the AFL and he was rewarded for his great effort in the champs with AA honours.

Selection 51 - David McKay - Oakleigh

After a few changes of mind, I've decided to take a bit of a punt at #51. A midfielder with pace and skills. Much like Simmo when he was drafted to the Blues. Will need to bulk up as he is only 71kg - well according to afl.com

Don't think it is that much of a punt at #51, just patience required :thumbsu:

Nice pick up.;)

gee I've hardly heard his name mentioned on here. Is very small and will need to spend all of next season in the gym. Like you said he has good pace and skills, but what I really like about him is his fantastic work-rate and the fact that he just seems to be a very mentally mature player. His reading of the play is just about as good as Gibbs and isn't afraid to go in heard despite his small frame. I probably would have picked him up next round, and I thought he'd be a certainty to be available, oh well :(.

good pick btw

Happy with Gibbs and Petterd. Not sure about the other picks. All appear to be outside players.

After watching the Sydney finals series last year I am convinced that with a team of tough inside footballers you can win a premiership. The likes of Kirk, Bolton, Buchanan ect counted when it mattered. Carlton already has some reasonable outside players in Walker, Simpson, Russell.

Trying not to be to critical but pasionate about getting mentally and physically tough players.

Surely Eagles need a ruckmen macca. Are we gonna go all year with 2 recognised ruckmen

I recall Schmidt putting himself between the ball and Hawkins lead a few times, he also ironed out Hansen, all this despite being 17 and a tad wiry still, so not too outside.....McKay is lightly framed but like Simmo could be anything if he bulks up and gains a bit of confidence aabout putting his body in. Everitt is bottom aged and would be a project KPD player. Another tough inside mid wouldn't hurt, but i think HBF has done a pretty good job getting the best available with each pick IMO.

And i'm sure Brock O'Brien would have been our man at #17 if available.
