Yeh I found it difficult to separate the guys after around pick 19. I put Colyer up first because of his pace and he did play well at the carnival. He could go higher I think - I might have put him into the first round if he had another 10cm or so in height.

An interesting interview with Melbournes list manager on the TAC cup show this week. I might have read too much into it but I felt he implied Melbourne werent considering Butcher with their second pick and they were looking at each of Morabito, Martin, Trengove and Rohan.

Now that Gippsland were knocked out of the finals (Butcher had another quiet game) and Butcher wont have a chance to put in any more decent games which he really needed to do, Im thinking of dropping him down the list a bit now.
Gippsland get a second chance this weekend against the Cannons

Pick 10 Essendon, Koby Stevens
Next best available and last of the 'elites' in this draft (imo). Strong and aggressive inside midfielder to compliment their existing midfield pace is a good fit.

Pick 26 Essendon, Ryan Bastinac
No reasoning for this position other than that I had to get Bastinac into my top 30 and he's probably the next best available. Could go higher.

Good read and a good outcome for Essendon if this happens.

Doh! I added some first names in at the last second but should have taken more care. Thanks.

I started finding it difficult around here with these guys and also Harwood and Sheppard. Its particularly subjective after the first round in this draft but I wanted to reward Hooper for the Larke medal. Recruiters seem to put alot of emphasis on it.

Wouldnt think that Hooper would get drafted.
Jake Melksham will be a first round selection in my very humble opinion.
Fun read mate.

That's the kind of result I see us getting, actually.

I think one of Stevens, Cunnington and Martin will be around at 10, and I think all three fit the type we should be looking for.

A midfielder that's good by foot would have to be high on our list of priorities and Bastinac fits that nicely.

I think we might have a fish around for a key forward at some point, but of what I'd consider to be first/second round talent, I don't think there's going to be a lot on the table at 26. Would quite like us to grab Ayden Kennedy at 43; he's raw but athletic guys that can take a contested mark are certainly of interest.

Everyone has Rohan as a definate pick #6 going to Sydney. Interesting.

I wouldn't mind Morabito but I think Freo might go for Lucas. Just a gut feeling.

Yeh he's pretty commonly placed up around here. He's pretty good though. From what Melbournes list manager had to say on TAC cup future stars last week he is one of about 4 players in contention for Melbournes second pick - which doesnt include Butcher.

Hes not a player you would pick for a specific need - its just hard to see a player this good slipping too much further down which is the main reason I have him going to Sydney. Although Daniel Rich comes to mind..!

I doubt Fremantle would take Colyer in the second round. We have a shortish side already and a few speedsters now. More likely to be looking at Black from Peel to help our KPP stocks.

Good effort though.

Good draft mate other than I think the Lions will go with Tapscott with there first pick if he is still there and than a midfielder with our second pick:thumbsu:

damm right...you can banked on the lions picking tapscott. We love players who can kick long, and he is the best kick in the draft I have heard.

A fir bit of water has passed under the bridge since I posted this draft - such as traded picks, traded players and TAC Cup finals. Not to mention the draft camp thats on now.

Ill post an update shortly but some glaring changes will be Butcher sliding and Martin rising. Melbourne getting pick 11 throws things a little as well.

I'd suggest waiting until the draft order has been settled at the end of trade week.

:thumbsu:. Spot on I reckon! There is no chance butcher will be selected at 3.

I can easily see Sydney taking Lucas ahead of Rohan. With Goodes aging, Sydney would kill for some class in their midfield, which at the moment, is pretty messy.

Its starting to shape up like this. With so much happening this year Ill wait until the end of trade week as suggested by Vader.
