THE AFL's new draft format could give Melbourne crucial think time, with the league's senior coaches to announce the top 10 selections to a national TV audience.

The Demons have the first two picks in the November 26 draft, but also No. 11 after what will be a prolonged break to showcase the year's best 10 kids.

Well at least they get extra think time.

Still would prefer the non-stupid idea of starting the draft off with the number 1 pick and not the number 10 pick.

Age of SMD so far:

Robertson delisted, Bruce takes veteran spot (unconfirmed) - Pick 1
Wheatley - Pick 2
Whelan - Pick 11
McLean - Pick 18
Buckley - Pick 34

But room has not been made for PSD 1. The other option is to pass on Pick 34 which I think is a genuine possibility. We will have already picked the 4 players we want the most, so why load up on guys in a weak draft when whoever we are to delist obviously has some talent.

I'm confident they are doing the preselect top 10, but I thought they were going to keep it in order of 1-10 but then have them select again for the cameras and then show video packages and other things before 11.
