Pick 14

Individual misses aren't irrelevant. When you pick Tambling instead of Franklin it's far from irrelevant.

Drafting is as much on an individual basis as on a collective.

Becomes irelevant which you draft Mitch Thorp over Joel Selwood a couple of years later.

I'd love to have seen what Pitt could've done. Very few players I've seen kick it with his touch, timing & control off either side. Could easily have been another Duffield type.

But when you have an imminent gaping hole in the forwardline and a high performing, plug and play youngster from your State falls to your pick, overlooking him for a skinny flanker from Victoria is pure idiocy.

Agreed

Nothing against Pitt and he did appear to be a really good person. Life after Pav has been fairly bleak up to now.

Darling had a question mark over his ability to handle a blow to the head after he was punched in northbridge, from memory.

I hadn't seen him taking any contact to the head until that round 22 match against Melbourne where he had his head dropped to the grass and out like a light.

I've had my say on that enough times not to need to there again.
Just musing on how much I wish I could have seen Pitts career. Not as much as I wish I could have seen Morabito's. But enough that it gives me a twinge of sadness whenever I think of it. His ability to kick was special & he seemed genuinely dual sided like Acker was.

I think we were moribitos knees away from a premiership in 2012-2015

I think there should be a "out of all clubs whos f#cked up their drafting the most" thread. Then everyone can go there and compare draft years and picks.

Still take hill at 14 and I garuntee a very good player will be around at 31.

Over the years the Tigers have made some absolute howlers.
Nevertheless, our selection of Pitt ahead of Darling was imo our worst single drafting decision. I don't buy the notion at all that Pitt may have been something if it weren't for his health. The guy showed absolutely zilch, zero, nothing - a dud. Darling was already mauling opposition backmen in the wafl at 18yo. We swallowed the badboy image portrayed by all the eagles friendly media (just like all the clubs east of the nullarbor), got spooked and selected a kid that had some nice skills but little else.

I remember the ABC radio call of West Perth v (can't recall) and Darling(18yo) booting 6 goals.
And the rest is history.

Clarke he has the tools and is multi positional home town lad
Stocker he sounds like a hard at it player who probably would be rated higher if injury hadn't hindered his season.
Pretty much top of the list. But there are others. Nice place to be picking. Sturt would fit nicely. I would like us to prefer a player who improves us forward.

That's why I like Hill but others think he's too small and has regressed. His shoulder injury/op IMO had something to do with that.

I would take Clarke first if available only by a whisker over Hill. So Hill would be next in line for me. Small, quick and magical Eddie Betts type forwards are very hard to find and I think Hill has it. Got to go the local talent, it adds extra value imo, unless there is someone else the recruiters will find too hard to pass up if available.

I don't think I have seen anyone indicating they don't like Hill. The question is purely about who they prefer at our pick. I think we need another midfielder and a medium forward before a small forward. But the club may be confident North, Giro or Crowden can become the midfielder. They may think McCarthy or Banfield can become the medium forward. They may think a small forward can be found later in the draft as happened with Walters.

Bell did say he saw McCarthy as a mobile forward, with Taberner and Cox being key forwards.
