Pick 14

Interesting.

Another development is that the Crows might bid on Biggs from GWS.

If they do, love to trade for pick 19 and get one of Hill, Stocker, or Valente.

Maybe, trade our future second, 31, 43, for picks 19 and 25.
I like you’re thinking but for mine I’m not expecting much in the way of live trading.
(Sounds like I’m talking about bloody meat)

For me I like a good conspiracy. GWS have a pick in front of us (currently 11). We worked hard to get them pick 19 as well. Also Sheridan went rather quickly as DFA. Just maybe when GWS have their first call at pick 12 and Jordan Clarke is still on the board they will conveniently NOT call out his name.

Jordan Clark’s Dad was the CEO at Peel for quite some time. I don’t believe he left on the best of terms and that is why he doesn’t like the Dockers.

I keep reading he reading that Clark has elite skills. I’m not sure too many people saying this have seen him play (other than the u18’s games on tv). His kicking would struggle to be average at best. He is however a very good intercept mark and is hard at it, but is very loose when playing across half back.

Forgive my ignorance as I haven't seen the boys play, but what is so special about Clark? He looks a Darcy Tucker type from the descriptions.
I would be much happier if we got Hill, who looks electric.
Once again, I haven't seen either boy play live, so it isn't 100% clear cut in my opinion

New power rankings out now. Knightmare?

His power rankings really are a joke. There were wholesale changes from his last update, despite nobody playing any football for months. I questioned why he didn't have Zac Butters or Ian Hill inside his top 50, and he was quite firm in his opinion that they're too outside and overrated. Suddenly Butters is at #18 and Hill at #39. Jye Caldwell has gone up to 7, Tom Joyce has entered from nowhere to be at #29. Why? Because the actual media have been talking about them.

He does this every year. Changes his personal rankings a couple of days out to match the rumours. Okay rant over...

I'm having this wild hope that Caldwell may slide a bit...kid looks like an absolute jet. Maybe the injuries will put people off

He has a kicking attitude that sees him kicking long and up the wings after running off position behind the ball, it looks really good in live play.

It's why someone like Matthew Ling from last year bursting from half back and kicking low, flat and fast was considered a great kick... even though everyone watching saw his kicks go out of bounds or turned over... and someone like Charlie Constable who weighted loopier kicks weren't as highly regarded yet they were dropping into the advantage space of his team mates running onto them and marking.

Jordan Clark has a huge upside in his running, long term I think he projects as a marking winger but I do see your point on his kicking, he isn't Luke Ryan off half back.

Clark to me feels like the safer pick with the lower ceiling over a player like Ian Hill.

I love this time of the year. 2 days out from draft. Most have their favourites and are getting snarky and disagreeable with whoever doesn't agree. Then Freo will take someone random at 14* and some of us will get sh5tty for 6 months, while others will be discussing what a masterstroke it was and which year they will get their first Brownlow/Coleman.

BTW. iHill or this draft is a bust.

Plus two first names is untrustworthy.
you could call him Griswold

Haha yeah. Makes zero sense for any of us to have strong opinions about this (except maybe Chris) as we don't have anywhere near enough information. Won't stop all of us being expert critics come Thursday/Friday.

He had a few soft tissue injuries last year so you could be right that he might slip. Described as playing a bit like Coniglio in that he is a quick ball winner who hits the pack hard. Sounds like the perfect compliment to Brayshaw, Fyfe and Cerra.

Yep, I still remember this place going nuts because we passed on Aron Black for Fyfe. Also went nuts when we drafted Neale while some wanted Tunbridge. Even the experts get it wrong. One year on Id take both Brayshaw and Cerra over LDU but many crucified Freo on draft night for not taking the now North player.

I’m not worried who we pick as this is such a strong draft, I’m certain Belly will do good for us, it’s not like the old days when it was like the holy grail, pick wisely. You either come up trumps or you crash and burn. And we’ve done a bit of the latter.

Callum Twomey in his mock draft said that we have some interest in Tone Watson from Swan Districts. Defender 188cm.20 yo.

Anybody know anything about him?

He's a good prospect. I like the idea of him as a midfielder but him on the HB could let us try Ryan in the midfield perhaps?
