What are peoples thoughts on Darcy Hourigan?
Would he be there at one of our later picks?
Would much prefer others in that range that offer more.

I'm guessing your very good source is from North Adelaide and recently. For starters he is 3 years away at least from doing anything of note at AFL level. He'll be playing reserves the whole time.
Secondly, even in 3 years time we will still have Tex, Jenkins, LJ and Lynch. So where oes Harvey play? He cant ruck, so my guess would be either make him a CHB or reserves.
Thirldy, i have it on very good authority that he is a very selfish memememememememe type of person. Not someone we want at the club.
Battersby on the other hand, played very good SANFL Football this year, could make an impact next year, and has kicking skills on a Mitch Grigg kind of level. If not better as Battersby is two sided unlike Grigg

I can personally guarantee you nothing could be further from the truth.
Mitch is a great kid and will fit in exceptionally well wherever he ends up. The selfish suggestion couldn't be further from the truth.
I agree though, Harvey is about 3 years away. And? Pods has a two year contract. Surely having a young key position player developing and learning would be a good thing? Outside of top 3 picks, very few KPP can play straight away. Besides, Tex, Pods and Jenkins are our only true KPP. Lynch and Lj aren't that type.

My first option would be to try and upgrade our to get Croych, but if we couldnt then yeah I like your order.James Battersby: Sturt Football Club.
Half Back/Wingman
Elite ball user with great awareness. Good speed, his engine is a bit of a worry however. That should improve though.
Luke Dunstan: Woodville West Torrens
OnBall
Left Footer. Very strong and courageous at contests. Good ball winner and solid user of the Footy. Outstanding leadership skills, captaining the state U18s team this year. Can go forward and kick a goal.
Trent Dumont: Norwood Football Club
On ball
Was one of Norwoods very best in the Grand Final. Smart mover, good vision and awareness. Reminds me of Dane Swan, no attribute really sticks out, but works hard around the contests and always seems to be in the right spot.
Mitch Harvey: North Adelaide Football Club
Centre Half Forward
Big strong and raw. Very good at under age level. Strong mark and good kick. Is at least 3 seasons away from making an impact at AFL level. At 195cm is undersized to play as a second ruck. Is much more suited as a full time key position player.
I would take them in this order.
I dont disagree with what you are saying,i just dont think that Tex Jenks and Harvey could play in the say team come 2018. Neither Tex or Harvey can adequately ruck, meaning Jenkins would still be vital.
I have a very good source. What was the reason that Harvey didnt play in the Prelim or Grand Final for Norths U18s then?
The SANFL changed the date of the prelim 5 days before it was to be played and put it against his school Formal. I can tell you Harvey was very torn over it as he had committed to the formal night months in advance and had a significant role to play on the night.
Ultimately he chose to go ahead with the commitment he had made long ago. North's response was absolutely disgraceful. They chose to then remove him from the team and not allow him to play in the GF (which he would have).
In fact Francou's actions around this have been absolutely disgraceful. The things he has said to Harvey are inexcusable.
Personally I think Harvey should have played, but I know how torn up he was over it. You have to remember that he has some leadership roles at his school, had committed to attending, had a girlfriend who had spent significant money on dress etc...
Whatever he chose to do he was going to be letting someone down badly.
Where does the Harvey can't ruck comment come from? His height?
How can we get our hands on James Aish or is that a pipe dream of epic proportions?
Vader?
23 + Henderson + DMack + Smack to St Kilda?
I think our best hope was from Melbourne. I doubt the Saints have as much of a need/want for those sort of players. And i cant imagine that lot going to GWS unless it was for serious cash.

I'd much rather us get our hands on Dom Sheed than Aish
A little bit melodramatic there.Spot on. What i heard as well.
I guess you can look at it in 2 ways depending on what side you look at it from. FWIW i am not a North supporter, just have an ear to the ground at the club. Even with responsibilities etc, he shouldve play in the Finals and North were quite within their right to drop him. North Adelaide would have done everything in their power to help Harvey be where he is right now. Ready to be drafted and embark on an AFL career. And the way he repays them is by ditching the biggest 2 games of his North Adelaide career to go to a school event.
The team had to come first for mine. Whats next 2020 AFL GrandFinal he elects to miss because his Brother is having a bucks party the Friday before, organised months in advance and Mitch is his best man? I know its an extreme but i want a bloke who is 100% committed to the Football Club and achieving team success.
His height is at a massive disadvantage at AFL level to act as a ruckman. We have seen with Shaun McKeran who is listed as taller then Harvey struggle with this. SMacks talent as a pure ruckman is good enough to lead some teams rucking divisions but at 196cm his height works against him. Harvey has rarely rucked in his career, is smaller then Smack as we well know, he isnt going to get the necessary ruck coaching from anyone at the Adelaide Football Club either.
A little bit melodramatic there.
Harvey had a conflict and made a choice to miss one game. North made the choice to ban him from the GF.
I can tell you that Harvey was getting plenty of advice from his manager that it was in his own best interests (in terms of draft position) to play in the match. If he was a me me me person he would have played.
If anything his loyalty to others was his mistake (and also something to be admired). Still, you may need to know a bit more of the lead up and relationship between Harvey and North to understand why he made that decision. My understanding is that leading up to the conflict Harvey had been let down badly by North.
In terms of rucking - that is only partially true. He has rucked a lot and only in recent years has been converted in to a Key Forward (essentially after the U16 10 goal grand final).
My concern would be that Harvey's best work is in the ruck where he reads the ball exceptionally well around the ground, but at 195 cm probably can only pinch hit in the ruck. He may have a similar issue to McKernan.
If Harvey was 200cm he would be in the top 5 in the draft.
Disagree we shallAgree to disagree on the first part. Melodramatic maybe, but if we are drafting a bloke i want him 100% committed to winning a flag with us.
If Shaun McKernan was 200cm we wouldnt even be having this argument, we wouldnt have Angus Graham on the list and maybe not even Jenkins too. Unfortunately like Harvey he isnt and its another reason as to why id look elsewhere,
Hoping that Dumont slips to us. Marsh's skill set seems interesting too. Will be interesting to see how high Freeman goes, as he's being touted at the "next Dangerfield".

We MUST pick up a KPF either this year or next. Doubt they would use 23 on Harvey only because unless big blokes are absolutely elite, teams rarely draft them early.
Battersby all day every day for me. I have a bias though being associated with Pembroke School who have produced a few draft picks recently. On the note, Alex Forster may be worth a rookie spot - second round pick in just 2011, had injuries in 2012 and was starting to put it together in the WAFL this year. Ross Lyon is so good with development![]()
Sure is. Add him to Forster, Horlin -Smith, Monfries , and our 1st 18 has done pretty well recentlyIs Battersby a Pembroke boy?
