Re: Good stuff.

huh?

where'd you pull that from?

went for a goal from outside 50 and got marked on the line, a bit more strength and he'll get the extra 5 metres i reckon.

Loved his run, linked well and moves well.

Just got the impression from rfc's post that he was currently struggling for distance with his kicking. When kicking penetration diminishes it can often mean OP. Re-reading rfc's post again now I realise that he was not suggesting that Edwards' kicking is any less than it used to be. But you're right, he looks the goods.

Re: Good stuff.

Going by Friday night, this kid is all class and an exciting prospect. Interesting to see if they keep him in the side as a natural A-grader, or give him more time to develop at Coburg. Personally, i think this year sees the changing of the guard, and the more games we get into our kids the better for the future.
Edwards might just cement a place in the side for most of the rest of the season, provided his young body can cope.

somewhere in that post is said good around the goals,

dont know if anyone else will remember this but against the dogs the ball came into our goal square edwards was there span 360 but only at the end lost control of the ball, if he had held that ball it would have been one of the most amazing crumming goals i would have ever seen.

If thats an indication as to what we can look forward to, I look forwards to watching him do that many times over

I'm a bit torn. He's doing ok at the moment, but it's more promise than performance at the moment so perhaps the best thing would be for him to go back to Coburg for a bit so he's playing full matches and getting his fitness up. Maybe one more week in the seniors as the Burgers have a bye.

Hopefully he'll run all day when he gets some experience on how to handle the extra pace of AFL.

Draft camp stand out results:

Shuttle Run (Beep test)
Shane Edwards - level 15.04 (Equal highest)

3km time trial
Shane Edwards - 10:00 mins (3rd)

Vertical jump - standing
Shane Edwards - 69cm  Didnt expect that!

I don't want to get too excited but......
Sign the boy up for 3 years now!... no make it 5!

how many times did he get caught? he dispose the ball far too slowly and need a lot of work.
How many times did you get caught with the Tonka truck at kindy?
Sometimes it happens. You get over it. You obviously haven't.

Fcuk it! How many times did those evassive moves come off? What i liked was the fact that even though he got caught, he would still try it in the next passage of play and not lose any confidence, and more often than not would get around his oponent.

Was unlucky in the last one paid against him that the ball bounced ahead of him when he took a bounce, because he would have gotten away from that tackler without doubt..

The best thing is that he runs and he is not afraid to run. Foley and Tambling are the only other players who seem to back themselves.

Be great if we could get Deledio to do the same thing.

Edwards was fantastic tonight.

Rising Star chance?

He tries doesnt he.. good kid. :)

What do I think about Edwards?

I'm excited!!!

when he was caught in the last quarter for holding the ball when he bounced it, i reckon terry would have been pleased with that. adelaide were congesting it so we needed run and he was one of our only players that was prepared to take a risk - taking risks was the only thing that would win us the game

I wish deledio would do the same thing. He did it in his first season. He had 24 possies tonight, 15 were handballs. He has such a beautiful kick he doesnt use it enough. There was one play in the last quarter he ran towards the centre circle and instead of kicking he handball to tuck standing still. I think its a big reason the opposition supporters reckon that he has gone backwards because his possies arent as eye catching anymore.
