Imagine 3 years down the track...

FF: Ballantyne Pavlich Mayne
HF: Hill Black Walters
C: Morabito DeBoer Ibbotson
HB: Mundy McPharlin Duffield
FB:Broughton Luff Hayden/Pearce
R: Sandilands Suban Palmer
I: Clarke Johnson Hutchings Ruffles

With Crowley, Schammer, Bradley etc as experienced depth and with Hall, Bucovaz, Sibosado, Shepheard, van Berlo and 3 years worth of draft picks vying for a spot as well. Even better, 15 of the starting 18 are from WA.

yes please :)

Good stuff but I think your overrating Hutchings a bit in the sense that he beats Crowley(great tagger) and possibly Hasleby. I also rate Sibosado higher than Aaron Black since Sibosado is actually younger than him and playing WAFL seniors while Aaron Black has only been playing colts.

Sure, that was a quick team off the top of my head that was predominantly youth based. In reality McPharlin would probably have gone and someone might have been traded, next years draftees have to be fitted in etc. Black has played a few games in the seniors as a ruckman I believe, whilst Sibo has only played a couple and didn't do a whole lot. But yeah, the future is definitely bright. :)

mmm, i don't think black will last unfortunately.
i think essendon's pick 16 stands in our way, as i've heard word that they're quite keen on him. i'm really liking the sound of troy taylor though.

Been trying to find some videos of Black, Hutchings and Luff without much luck. Apparently Luff is a pretty smart defender, quite good at getting a fist in to spoil.

Can't find any info on Xavier Foley either, havn't seen anything of him but apparently was the WA U18's CHB.

I saw his video against West Perth on alfdraftinfo. Have to say I wasnt impressed, he was giving away silly free kicks inside 50. Reminded me of Steven Dodd.

I'm surprised no-one around here rates Josh Donaldson. He should still be around with your new pick 48 and would slot in nicely at FB with a bit of development.

Yeah definitley. In three years time Morabito could even slip in to that CHF position.

Wouldn't mind Donaldson either, read little bits of him here and there. Not sure if it's just me but I don't think there's as many highlights videos floating around as there was last year.

I think a third rounder for Hutchings would be paying over the odds. If he were available at our fourth rounder I would consider him, but I think there should be better players at pick 36. Hutchings is a good solid player, but I'm not sure he offers anything different than a mature aged recruit would later on in the draft.....

I'm going to wait until after trade week before I start setting my sights on particular players.....but Morabito, Black and Taylor would be a very exciting combination.

Yeah, I think I was a little bit slow on the uptake there. Didn't realise we had traded Peake until after I wrote that. I would definitely consider Hutchings at #48 if he were available.

I'm still holding out hope for a late second/early third rounder for Drum though, and that's when I will start getting my hopes up on players...

Ideally say we had our current picks plus Geelong's second/third rounder (best case scenario) which would give us

4, 20, 33, 36, 48, 52 (w/ Second rounder)

4, 20, 36, 48, 49, 52 (w/ Third Rounder)

Who would you slect with this picks??

Found some info on Luff:

From WA v Vic M

Chris Luff full back on Fitzpatrick at full foward.

Well Chris gave away alot of inches but absolutely dominated this contest.

Won most of the one on ones comfortably is a great spoiler and always had the better body position.
He is a very smart footballer and used this to his advantage.(ran foward late in the game and kicked a goal, was swamped by teamates a indication of how popular he is)
And I managed to find one video, not very encouraging but not much you can expect in a highlights pack of a FB:

Best case scenario...

Morabito (4), Black (20), Bartlett (33 - Geelong 2nd rounder), Taylor (36), Hutchings (48), Luff (52)

Similar names as to who has already been discussed, except with the addition of Bartlett. Here's a quick write up on Bartlett for anyone who is interested...

Quick and agile goalkicking midfielder with excellent ball-winning ability. Disposal by foot is a feature of his game.

Morabito (4), Black (20), Taylor (36), Hutchings (48), Houghton (49 - Geelong 3rd rounder), Luff (52)

The same essential draft, except with Houghton this time. If we get Black with our second rounder, then we probably wont look at Houghton. But I like him, and think he is better value than most of the remaining midfielders.

Option 1 would be much better for list balance, as it would give us the extra midfielder. But I think our forward line would be set with the second one.

Bartlett is a gun. Was injured this year, but was a highly rated under 16 ala Tom Swift.

Would love that best case scenario. Lately I've been wondering where Colyer fits into the draft now. He's a chance to still be around at 36.

If you read the thread at the top of the board there has been a lot of discussion about Josh

Eagles to snare him with pick 22 IMO :thumbsd:

I think it's more then likely we will get the cats 3rd rounder. Drum + pick 48 for Cats pick 33 would be a decent trade IMO.

Pick 4 - Morabito

Pick 20 - Black

Pick 36 - J.Craig (SA Ruckman)

Pick 48 - Luff

Pick 49 - Hutchings

Pick 52 - BPA

I would be extremly happy if the draft went down like that.

And why do we need another ruckman?

Some clubs have 5. We have 2.

I wouldn't mind a little brigade of 200cm players which Sandilands can train to be the 'next big thing' and we can trade to Victorian clubs for an endless supply of 2nd round draft picks.

We turned pick 42 2005, into pick 24 + pick 56 2008.

Suban > Warnock. Forever.

He is versatile and could be a solid key defender.

Thanks i dont know too much about him, but a tall versatile tall KPP could come in handy this year.

Good point I still think we still lack major pace and skill in the midfield.

Haha drafting players in the hope of building up there ability an then trading them in a few years time with a profit.
To help us in future drafts
