James Craig is too short to be a long term ruck option at AFL level. His best chance of making it, is to develop into a Daniel Merrett type full back. He does have the agility to do it, although it could take a few years.

Personally, I wouldn't be looking at him. He is going to go second round, and that's too early for us to be looking at a developing full back. Take Luff in the fourth round, and then look to a mature aged defender in the rookie draft.

He is versatile and could be a solid key defender.

Indeed that's why I was thinking of selcting him also he did pretty well in the standing vertical winning with a 76 Natanui got 78 last year if he grows another inch I don't see why he couldn't be our ruckman don't forget Sandilands is 27 and while I wouldn't be surprised if he plays for another 5 years it's always important to have a couple back up ruckman as they take years to devlop.

what about using one of our later picks on james thompson from claremont. was on the eagles list for 2 years i think still only 20 or 21 years old and did quite well as a key defender for claremont this year in a team that was under siege for much of the year. very athletic player as well i like the look of him

I think we will probably snare one of the 2nd/3rd rounders that geelong may pick up as part of the Mumford or Wojoinski trades for Drum. Then Ideally i would prefer us taking in preference order and if available: The Bolded guys are what I think will occur.

Pick 4: Trengove, Martin, Mora/Lucas (Probably be Morabito though).
Pick 20: Black, Carlisle, Griffiths (Need KPP)
Pick from Drum Trade: Carey, Taylor, Crichton, Ah Chee
Pick 36: Luff, Bartlett,
Pick 48: Hutchings, Donaldson
Pick 52: McNeil, Temel, Houghton (doubt Mcneil will slide that far)
Last Pick 68: PSD pick

Any mix of these guys would be pretty good Imo. Probably need 3 or 4 mids with blend of speed, skill and toughness and a couple of KPP's for both ends.

Much rather a Bartlett/Donaldson combo but thats just me. We would still be fine with Luff/Hutchings.

whos got some info on this taylor bloke haven really heard to much about him at all, or even some footage would be good. thanks

Similar to you cp3, i'd like to see us go something like:

4. A.Morabito
20. A.Black (Or Best Available KPP)
36. C.Bartlett
48. K.Hartigan (Or Luff if not available)
49. J.Donaldson
52. S.Temel (Or Astbury/Houghton if not available)

2 midfielders, 2 key forwards and 2 key defenders. Like last year, I don't think we'll go all from WA.

Is pick 4 going to be a smokey? Last year we were done and dusted on taking the other of the Nat and Rich show.

Could Black be a smokey this year? Theres no doubt we need KPP of class and Black appears a pretty good one. He would enable McPharlin to go back to CHB, Tarrant FB and Pav FF.

If we were going to take a KPP at number 4 wouldnt we be taking Butcher?

Morabito was only interviewed by 3 clubs at Draft Camp, Fremantle, Melbourne and Richmond. Apparently when interviewed by Melbourne and Richmond, he failed psychological testing that was done because he indicated that he wanted to stay in WA and that he would play his best football here. Also they find that since he is originally from the country, moving interstate would place too much pressure on him. Fremantle have committed to Morabito at 4.

This may sound like complete B/S but it was Morabito's cousin who told me. So don't expect any surprises come draft day, Freo will pick up a star in Anthony Morabito and I for one are ecstatic.

I personaly think Black is way overrated and Morabito could turn in to a much better key position forward. Black has a year on all the other draft picks yet is only playing WAFL colts. I also know for a fact he is also extremely cocky.

yep, thats what his manager has told the clubs. Cant find the article where that was touched on though.

Not necessarily a bad thing in a footballer though... as long as he channels it the right way...

I have to say Sandi, Haselby, Palmer, DeBoer extracting the ball to Hill, Suban, Ibbotson, Morabito

Who then kicks deep into the forward 50 into a big pack, and MATTHEW PAVLICH, comes flying over the top to kick his 6th of the day.

:D

This is true. Frodo is somewhat cocky and carries himself with swagger but he seems so far to channel it the right way.... plus it irritates the opposition supporters:)
