Welcome To Richmond:
NAME THOMAS HISLOP
ORIGINAL CLUB ESSENDON
DOB 07/06/1988
HEIGHT 185cm
WEIGHT 85kg

Bio
Former top 20 draft pick by the Bombers who was let go due to some discipline issues. Has been thrown a lifeline by us and hopefully will get the message that this is his last chance. Possible that he could be ready to go from the start of the season.

I would appreciate it if discussion in this thread is only about the player we picked, not who we should have picked, save that for the General Draft Day discussion thread.

FJ on SEN now.

Tyrone Vickery - Expects TV to play next season, put on size.

Jayden Post - Talented all, took 50 more marks than anyone in the TAC Cup.

Tom Hislop - 2 other clubs wanted him before, Rate him highly. Terry chatted to him before the draft. 2nd chance and needs o make the most of it.

Re #70 - Draft lacked depth at the end... Kids to come through and make a decisions in the coming weeks.

"No Ben Cousins."

Coeshell is on Tiges radar

What an absolute ****ing joke....:thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:
Why? At 20yo he is younger than players who were picked up before him, and he is still very talented, and a hard at it player.

Did we make a mistake drafting Hislop? Can you see him breaking into our 22?

gonna have to agree with that
i can so see him becoming one of those players who plays around 8 games over the next two, maybe three years, and then gets the axe.
oh well. stoked that our other 2 picks seem real likely guns, and are both KPP as thats what we really need. looking forward to seeing hopefully Post if not Vickery in action next year :)

He has as much potential as an AFL midfielder as anyone who was left in the draft at that point (bar, imo, matt deboer) and has the added benefit of being physically AFL ready. If we can curb his behavioral problems we could have a ready made starting midfielder on our hands.

My theory though is that both he and thomson were picked due to the fact that they should be coming towards their peak in 2011 (our peak year), whereas new draftees would still be finding their footing. Look at how many midfielders we have in the 20-23 zone...hislop, thomson, collins, connors, deledio, edwards, foley, jackson, polo, raines, tambling, white...by the start of 2011 those guys will all be in the 22-25 zone, with 100-150 odd games under their belts :thumbsu:
