Medium forward/def that has the scope to play midfield. Shows good skills around goal, has a nice set of hands and kicks pretty well. Not the most flashiest player but just does a lot of things well.

but could be Mastet of None as well so could just be a Good Solid Player and you want more then that at Pick 6

Meh I’ll back Hine. If he thinks he’s going to turn into a good player I think he’s more than likely going to be right. He’s the ones who has seen the most of him, all we have is a 3 minute YouTube clip and a couple of games at the end of the year to go off.

Can't imagine us overlooking a Stephenson, Fogarty or Coffield for Murphy. Seems like a reach at pick 6 on exposed U18 form doesn't it?

Brayshaw on paper just seems like a pure mid and I don't feel that's our greatest list need though it would be hard to pass up a Cerra going by how highly some rate him.

Speed and ball carrying ability (forward/midfielder Stephenson), Speed and foot skills (defender/midfielder Coffield, forward/Bonar) , Key position (Naughton) or Utility with foot skills (Forward/Midfielder/Defender Fogarty) seem to be better options.

In reality though unless you have access to the inner sanctum of the club it's purely guesswork by the rest of us based around the information from those who are avid U18 watchers, on player types we tend to favour, on what we feel the club needs and years of watching the AFL.

Very True and Hine has a Good Record with 1st Round Picks so worth Trusting.

3 minutes is not enough to know anything for Sure

I can for sure. The only bloke I think we would take out of those 3 is Coffield. Hine wont be scared at all if he thinks that Murphy can become one of the best in the draft.

Hine has Shown when he Likes a Prospect he Get him and does not Care IF pays over or Draft lot higher then there Concensus Rating

Exactly right Dave.

I don’t mind that he’s rated a little further back. There have been some good players that have been drafted the last couple of years that haven’t gone top 10 that should have. Hopefully we are just spotting it early.

Don't let it do your head in. The recruiting department don't need or want our help.
While it's enjoyable to look at the highlights of these young blokes, our recruiting staff know their strengths & weaknesses a hell of a lot better than we do.
Just trust them to do their jobs. We don't influence their picks here at Bigfooty. I know I know, it's a bitter pill to swallow. ;)

2008 draft was the last time I got all consumed by the highlights videos. I thought I knew better than our staff.
Tom Swift was our pick for sure. Star written all over him. Needless to say when Hine picked Sidebottom I thought "Hine what have you done?"

But shock horror - Swift was average & ended up retiring as a youngster to pursue medicine. Wasn't up to the level.
Sidebottom has currently played 185 games, is a premiership player & Copeland trophy winner.
Then Hine took Beams at Pick 29 :)
The lesson I leaned is Hine knows his stuff & so do his staff. I on the other hand know diddly squat. :)

Ha, Tom Swift. Had forgotten all about that. Was as hot property as Danny Stanley.

Don't get your Hopes too High and WE GET YOU ARE A HUGE FORGATY FAN
Why are you getting annoyed by him repeating himself? You’re the king of repetitive posting.

I know right. Pot. Kettle. Black.

Aye, aye, I love it, I love it. It's the pre-match sparring for the Big Super-Villain Heavyweight Title Fight, y'know? Pfft pfft pfft pfft! And the main event is a totally unfair 2-on-1 fight to the death tag-team on Dave between Mr Know-It-All and Control-Alt-Repeat.

It's my night off, so... (*chuckle*)... I'm going to enjoy this...

I hope Fogarty is available and we take him if he is. If he's not, I'm sure we'll get a good player and I'll support them.
Reasons (I think/hope they're valid) :
1: He's a really good kick on both feet. Something that is never bad.
2: Has power / tackles hard. People talk about our turnovers - yes it's hard to watch. What I hate more is seeing opposition players get the ball and brush aside Hoskin-Elliott, Aish, Broomhead, Blair (and others). Yes, we need pace. Yes, we need skill. Players who can stick a tackle is another one, in my opinion, that doesn't get mentioned often. If we plan on playing 3 or more of WHE, Aish, Broomhead, Blair, Brown, Cox, Reid, Daicos... we should draft Fogarty, unless we want to see opposition hard-nuts run through us like a whipper-snipper.
3: We need a young tall(ish) forward / defender. The fact that he might become a big-bodied mid in time is a massive bonus.

Would really hate to see Carlton take him at 10.

If KM’s bio is right and Fog is 193cm I’m perfectly happy taking him as a legitimate KPP prospect. That’s the same height as Nick Reiwoldt and Jarryd Roughead. Get him in.

Plus, if Blair can play full forward, anyone can.
Wait, fullforward. I thought he played chf, gee have l not been watching properly

Another Hine sycophant. I've got to hand it to you for watching the youngsters in actual games, albeit only 'a couple at the end of the year'. The 3 minute YouTube's are both the beginning and end of my research. As for Hine, he may be the one who's seen the most of the kids, but that doesn't mean others couldn't do it better.
