At the very least he must have a good indication that Freo are very keen on him at 5.

Actually I hate to burst your bubble but Freo told him weeks ago they weren't selecting him. So his comment is more about reaffirming his commitment to not just recruiters but us as fans in a public forum. It's why in all my thoughts and PDs I've never had him going to Freo

It's great for us though. Shows real commitment.

I don't mind him but it puzzles me why we didn't trade down. Saints, Dogs, Blues wouldn't pick him, we could have trade 6 for Brisbane's two picks, got Naughton and then picked up Richards/O'Brien...

It'll also be awkward as hell if Rayner somehow dropped as he's #1 on our board. He won't but in the 5% chance he does then this will turn awkward for Aaron lol.

thanks. Even so, I don't see him being AFL ready given he'd be expected to play on key position forwards who have spent 4 years + in the gym. He isn't damaging enough with the ball to be a third defender and we already have a surplus of talent in that position.

Depending on injuries I’m happy to play him in the 2’s for the year. If he comes in later in the year I’d be confident that he’d be able to come in and play a role on someone.

Reports from the Rest his Kicking has got better and not as bad as some make it out to be

I think so. His marking is very good. He’s getting compared to McGovern who had his big knocks on his kicking when drafted and while he still isn’t the best kick he is very damaging. I would be hoping for that out of Naughton.

Some of his WAFL games his kicking was a lot flatter, I think he’s been working hard on it and hopefully will continue to advance.

This has probably already been posted. Did we know he is a Pies supporter? I don't know enough about the under 18s to have a view, but at least that is something and probably explains why he wants to come to us.
