Draft whispers: Rayner 1 (Bris) Davies-Uniacke 2 (Freo) mail is already been told. Brayshaw 4 (NM).

3,5,6 who knows

I don't know why we talk about the top 10, it's the top 5 that gets you Buddy Juddy Pendles and co :(

What I find amusing is that no one knows who we are picking in two days yet Hine knows that 17 Clubs are going to bid on our "potential" Father son / Academy player before the second round next year! :drunk:

I'll be awaiting this outcome with glee
No doubt all know more than the club
Gonna be funny next year if the guys we have earmarked slay it
There both elite at their spots
I think this deserves its own thread next season

When will you learn the media know about as much as us

If that's true, 3 Carlton will be Dow. I'd honestly take Dow ahead of LDU but that's just me.

So we need Freo to go rogue with their 2nd pick for a crack at Cerra, I reckon Bonar could be the one someone rolls the dice on... Bont with speed would sound awfully good to the faithful

Nick Coffield hopeful the Western Bulldogs continues its Eltham trend

There is a pattern emerging at the Western Bulldogs.

And one of the draft’s most promising young defenders, Nick Coffield, is hopeful it continues.

His hero, Marcus Bontempelli, is from the beautiful, leafy northern suburb of Eltham.

In 2013, he was drafted to the Bulldogs.

His best mate, Pat Lipinski, is also from Eltham. Last year, he too was drafted to the Dogs.

Now, Coffield — an Eltham resident and a mad Bulldogs fan — is desperate to be the next in line.

Even the thought of his close mate Lipinski getting drafted to the club they both supported as kids still seems a bit bizarre for Coffield, let alone what happens to him on Friday night.

Coffield was in attendance when Lipinski made his senior debut in Round 23 last season, impressing with 18 disposals in what was a tidy performance against the Hawks.

It was a proud, but strange moment for the Northern Knights youngster.

Being a Doggies supporter as well, I just had to be there,” Coffield tells foxfooty.com.au.

For me personally I hope they do take Cerra.....I don't want him, not because I don't think he is anything special as I reckon he'll be a solid 200+ gamer....but I'd much prefer us go either The Fog, Naughton or Coffield.

Cerra has absolutely star written all over him. You would take him in a heartbeat except that he will go number 2 after Rayner.

I half agree, though that is a little overstated.

I see a player with a couple of really elite traits: marking and kicking. His kicking really looks fantastic, beautiful kicks inside 50 with a high degree of difficulty. His marking looks very good as well, beautiful judgement. I do drool over the marking and kicking. If he was 195 cm I'd have a deadset stiffy.

What the clip doesn't show is whether he gets the ball in any other way? Inside a pack? Outside a pack? Does he provide run and carry? At 188 cm he will need to do these things...

The perils of forming opinions based on 2 minute youtube clips...

There were those concerns around Bontempelli regarding getting enough of the ball.

You can see this guy doing a lot of damage on a wing or as a utility. Possibly inside too, but that vision and kicking is sublime.

We’re talking talent ID here and what has happened to Scharenberg doesn’t suggest bad talent ID which is why I find it really difficult to pot that selection. He’d have 60+ games under his belt if he’d avoided the injury God’s wrath so let’s be fair no recruiter can recruit against bad luck.

Despite that you’ve acknowledged Treloar and JDG as worthy selections then ruled out Moore because he picked himself.

I’m normally partial to a roasting of the club, but in this case I’m not buying it and this couch recruiter stuff is a pretty easy gig, IMO. Especially when the outgoing CEO was cutting costs left right and centre within the FD to help the bottom line dramatically impacting Hine’s department. IMO, it’s no coincidence we went from league best to above average given resources were constrained.

To me, Shaz looks like becoming a pretty middle of the road back flanker. I don't see anything to suggest that he had far greater scope pre-injuries. I'm hoping to be proven wrong, but I don't view him as having been worthy of a high draft selection.
