Pick 6

I agree with you to some extent Stevo, but I reckon Walker and Dyson would be a better bet. If we only had pick 13 then perhaps McLean could be the go, but i reckon to get one outside and one inside midfielder is the best way to go. This draft could be very light on for key defenders and there's no point wasting a pick to draft for a need that we dont have nor likely to have in the immediate future with Hunt and Henneman and Lucas all having at least 4 top years in them (Lucas being the oldest). Throw Bolton in too.

Bolton isn't a key position player, but he could take over Wellman's role.

If there was a good tall still available at pick #13, we'd probably snaffle him up. An inside midfielder would be one of our priorities, I think. I'm not convinced we need another outside midfielder when we have drafted three quite talented ones in the past two years and picked up Alvey this year.

I dont think it matters how many you have...take the best player available..if thats an outside midfielder then so be it. Take a tall project player later on and in 3 years time if his devolopment is going well he should be ready to contribute. We took Laycock and Cartledge who can ruck but IMO will be KPP...Johns is a tall forward..Hunt and Henneman..as well as bolton can play KP Back or forward..we have enough at the moment.

The thing is IMO both Watts and Chaplin will be gone by 13 (not that I think we should draft them even if they were available) so we shouldn't watse 6 to get them early when we can get a gun midfielder instead.

Of course it matters how many you have. If you have a throng of midfielders and no ruckmen you aren't going to pick another midfielder. ;)

We do have a fairly balanced list, so if we just took the best player available that would be a good move.

But if there's types that we will be looking for it is a smart inside midfielder or a tough key defender.

Hopefully Dancin' Dazza will get more of a run in the midfield next year in the VFL, he's been stuck in a forward pocket far too often for my liking.

Stevo what do you think about the chances of Sheeds taking Rowan Bonson? I have a feeling he will be keen as mustard to get him.

I don't know much about him, but I remember Bewick mentioning him as one of NT's better players. What sort of player is he?

Bit of a flash in the pan type, is around 6'2" I think, but looks taller so he deceives a few. Apparently has sublime ball handling skills, and is a one grab mark. Bewick rates him as a potential star. I think Clarke, Joel Campbell and co have been more consistent but from what I read, Bonson could be anything.

The major problem is he is very shy and is extremely reluctant to leave home, wouldn't even come to Melbourne for the National Championships. Chris Lewis said it was because his girlfriend wanted him to stay home.

Pussy whipped bastard!

Different customs and the like its always been hard to get NT players down to melbourne....

I still think the idea of Mclean or Farren ray (sylvia tenenace or big name slips through then him) and Dyson Chaplin or Watts at 13 would be our best bet.

Thats is pretty good news, so long as we are not considering taking him with pick 6! He would be a great choice at 13 though.

Considering Essendon finished any kind of training more than a month ago, I find that very hard to believe.
