The Suns would be mad to trade down the order. With 3 picks in the top 6 of a super draft surely you just use them. The only scenario I see any of them moving is if one of the SA clubs does a dead set godfather deal. 8, 13 and 16 won’t even get you in the door.

We saw Port fire a shot across the Suns bow with the whole 'draft Luko or Rankine and we'll get them off you in 2 years' threat recently.

I couldnt help but get the impression Port had already tried to get 2 or 3 off you guys and they were rebuked fairly strongly.

Nothing wrong with the trade from a Carlton perspective...if you're happy giving up Walsh and a future top five pick for Rankine/Smith (you won't get both because Port or St Kilda will take the other one at 4/5) and two top ten draft picks.

It's more why would Gold Coast give up Lukosius and two of Rozee/Rankine/Smith for Walsh, a pick outside the top ten and your future top five pick. It's the sort of bullshit trade Wallace would come up with for a Victorian audience.

Besides, Gold Coast doesn't have their 2019 second round pick. Brisbane does. So this potential trade is garbage.

That is dead set horrendous for GC. I'm calling bullshit on this. They'll take picks 2 and 3 into the draft, and use them. At most, another club might get pick 6 from them for the right offer.

Or you think the plan is to go the SA boys and try to retain or at least extract 2x first for each down the track?

Could even go Lukosious and then Kings. that way your talls are hopefully set but take longer to mature. Then go for Mid's next two years.

The media outlets will be loving the ability to trade picks up to the draft as it will give them hundreds of opportunities to talk hypotheticals and have some clubs supporters frothing over them
I can see both SA clubs offering for pick 1 but it will be reasonable offer but not enough for the Blues to give it up, I think a more realistic option is trying for the Saints pick as they should be able to get the king kid later and it may be a 3 way trade with the Dogs

Crows #13 + #16 for Dogs #7 + #27 or future 2nd

Crows #7 + #21 for Saints #4 Saints will probably push for more but it would not be good management to overpay so maybe a pick swap (10-15 spots)in the later rounds could even it up

Although after the season the Saints and Dogs have had they will need the high draft picks to sell hope to the supporters

If I were them I’d try to trade for 4 and then go into lockdown.

St Kilda want King, he’ll still be there at 6 if GC let him get through because you know PA will pick an SA kid. Pick 6 and second round might do it. St Kilda get their man and a stronger draft hand. GC pick the eyes of the draft and get value for a pick they may not use due to list numbers.

If an SA club goes all out for no. 1 then Walsh slides into their hands. Win win IMO.

SA boys, Ballard is already a mate of Luko and Rankine and they can impact faster than the Kings who will take time to develop

Suns don’t need pick 1 or next years Blues first. Why? Because
1. the level of talent this year means with picks 2,3 &6 we will likely get 3 guns. Why swap 3 for 1 guns. If someone said I will give you Lukosius, Rankine and Smith for Walsh you would sell Walsh everyday of the week
2. We have the lions 1st rounder plus our own next year so we are well placed at the right end of the draft. We don’t need to speculate on the Blues pick
3. We gave our 2nd rounder to Brisbane
