i think the pies biggest challenge in years is going to be the end of year delistings.my understanding is that each club must have atleast 4 draft picks each year which means we have to delist or have 4 players retired.imo there is 2 certanties that wont be there next year they are davies and wakellin, who will be the other 2, the last thing you want to do is delist a young player who doesnt deserve it.another problem is if they promote a player off the rookie list such as clarke that also means another player would have to be cut.i hate to say it but players like licca, bucks may have to retire to save a young player from the chop

Richards, presti will retire, iles and .....(fill this spot someone)

Presti wont retire, ill bet my house on it. He is 28 not 35 no where near retirement.

Im sure i saw he was at least 31...

awell... how can he not miss a game without being injured.

i mean, he can play but he is very unco and he is the lowest ranking playing defender in both
AFL- Dreamteam
Heraldsun- Supercoach

I think he needs to improve...

Who has kicked bags on him this year?

We have other players for rebound and stats, "The Glove" is merely the first player in the chain with his spoiling and shut down work.

We would be FKED without Presti next year (and Wakes who will retire), no one else can competently play on gorillas

He will be fantastic support for Brown if we introduce him to senior ranks also.

Wakes, Iles, Davies seem likely to go. We might be wise to try trade someone else on our list with a draft pick and upgrade a few spots in the pecking order. Im thinking Lonie/Egan/Rusling or Fraser if we have the balls!

lol seriously.....who cares about rankings in dream teams etc, his job isnt to rack up 30 possessions. his job is to prevent his opponent from scoring goals. which amazingly enough is the role of a defender...

man how old r u kid? try not to take offence but think before u write

Candidates for delisting: Davies, Richards, Iles, Bryan, Cook, Stanley.

Candidates for retirement: Wakelin, Buckley, Licuria, Burns.

Candidates for trading: Lonie, Egan, Rusling.

Likely ones IMHO are in bold.

You can't say no to this face!

I don't want him delisted. Guy! Guy! He's our guy if he can't do it ...we may as well not try.

Unco do you even watch presti his job isnt to get possesions its toi shut down forwards which he does magnificently.

In fact he has been helping out with some drive from the backline this year what do you want him to do?

Definetly trust me he is 28 maybe 29 now but not 31.

Who cares about dreamteam!!!! His job is to stop his man not to get stats. Have a look at what his opponents dreamteam scores are. My bet is they would be pretty crap.

Every side in the comp would love to have Presti.

Will be tough. If the draft is a bit thin we may trade a pick & a player for someone. Say Lonie and or Holland & first/second pick for someone like a quality ruck, then delist Richards. Wakes will retire. Davies maybe. Problem solved.

Would be looking at Brisbanes rucks: Charman, McDonald, Mitch Clark (he can ruck) Leunenberger & Wood. They will rid of one - probably McDonald (they may even delist him), but could be enticed to hand over Wood for a nice trade and he seems an OK type.

Those bounces out on the wing against Freo(?)?:o

Just give it off by hand to one of the Shaws, Presti and trot back to your man in future.:D

Seriously though, as always he has been quietly going about his business, beating his opponent week in, week out. Everything that MM and the supporters could ask of him.

And if we're going by Dreamteam stats maybe we should pick up Kane Cornes or Joel Bowden then?:o

We can always take one of the less developed youngsters off the list and rookie-list them, thats one free spot.

Looks like someone doesn't actually watch the football. Great point though, dreamteam rankings definitely scale the importance and contribution a player inputs to the team... *insert sarcasm*

And in reference to this thread, I hardly think delisting 4 or more players is going to be Collingwoods 'biggest challenge' this year. Unless winning the GF just became a push over? And managing our backline troubles at the moment!

It won't be hard to find enough players to delist this year, I think some people are massively overrating our depth atm. While it's the best I've seen it for a while, to say we can't find players to delist is a joke.

There are an abundance of players in the Davies/Iles type mould in every draft, they would be quite easily replaced with little or no effect on the Senior team.
A lot of these guys have had their chances, and say in the case of Iles who was taken in the PSD (I think) it's not going to be a great loss. We may be more reluctant to get rid of someone like an Egan because he was such a high pick, but holding on to second class players because they show something at Williamstown but never really much else has no benefit to the team. Might as well bring in new blood, and see how they fair.
These later picks are always high percentage to be misses rather then hits, and if a late pick who is given a chance can't cement he's spot in 2-3 yrs then thats just how it goes... Not everyones going to do a Dane Swan and turn it around.

Royal Sampler listed most the names I would think that are in trouble, with the removal of Scott Burns, but otherwise a fair assessment IMO

:thumbsu:IMO well said, Presti will be very unlucky to even have to worry about getting a contract extension. Bigger fish to fry. If we have a look there was somewhat of a clean out last year, so probably really only be a mini clean out.

one of the problems we face is if we dont promote someone like clarke off the rookie list onto the senior list at end of year then he is then able to be picked up by another club in the national draft
