Preview Pies Picks - Your Guess

I'm not going ot lie, I have not been keeping up.

I have no clue who these kids are.
Refreshing honesty there! I'm not going to give my tips either because I have seen very little of most of the higher rated prospects in actual games, so all I have to go on is what I've read in some of the "better recognised" phantom drafts, and from watching the players highlights packages, where of course they pretty much all look exciting!! I am confident we'll come out of tomorrow with some very good young talent, though, and I'm certainly looking forward to tomorrow night.

If Stringer is still available at 18 I would prefer we take him with pick 20 just to give the Doggies that faint hope that 2013 is still alive for them......then crush it with 'Pick 20, Bendigo Pioneers, Jake Stringer - Collingwood'.........

18. Obrien
19. Lonergan
20. Stringer
38. Wright
80. Siggins

Now that's a dream come true right there people!

I'd like to see the one most likely to play games next year picked at 18, so that we are more likely to see the number 35 in action.

Was going to say the same thing. :thumbsu:
18 Kennedy
19 Lonergan
20 Garlett
38 some random dude few people have mentioned.
82 Pass or see pick 38

Unless injury strikes, I'm not sure how much AFL footy any of the first 3 picks will see really.........GWS, Mel, PA and the likes yes, but we have a solid list already with quality in the wings with AFL ready bodies needed to step in if needed.

Happy to blood as required and for experience, but certainly wouldnt expect best 22

I agree NT. They may not even make it at AFL level. Does anyone know whether there have been many successful players that were picks 18-20 in the last few years. Its a bit of a lottery IMO. At best hopefully one of them will make it at AFL level.

At best all three make it as very good players, at worst only 1 make it. we are collingwood not melbourne. we know how to draft and develop players.

18: Garlett
19: Garner
20: O'Brien

39:Boston

82: Upgrade Mooney
Boston at 39, wasn't he available to GC or someone to pre list?
If that's the case & he's rated at 39 they are going to be massive in a few years.

My UNEDUCATED picks are assumming Stringer is no hope:
18: Lonergan
19: Kennedy ( i really want this boy)
20: Garlett
38: Spencer White or whatever tall KPF Hine deems good enough.
82: Currie, Orrenson Stephen, once again a Hine selection, a seasoned ruckmen from what ever league.

I have quoted the below from Frankie23 who posted this in the other thread. Blaze036 I think you are putting too much faith in our recruiting department. You are acting as though that our recruiting department are gods. We will be very lucky if all 3 picks make it at AFL level. You just have to look at the below and realize it is hard to find top players with picks 18-20. I hope I am proven wrong though.

Was bored so came up with this, previous picks 18,19,20

2005 - Bailey, Dempsey and Bower
2006 - Leroy Jetta, Grigg and Hislop
2007 - Rance, Ward and Notte
2008 - Shuey, Strauss and Swift
2009 - Tapscott, Griffiths and Fyfe
2010 - Watson, I.Smith and Pitt
2011 - B.McKenzie, Kavanagh and Crozier

What to take of that, not much. It shows not to expect too much from the crop, however I've got faith that Hine/our resources are more advanced than many of those clubs, as well as the fact that more emphasis is placed on drafting than say 2005. If we can nail two of the three picks we should be very happy.

Indeed! I'm a bit bemused that Boston and fellow Queenslander Jordon Bourke, both of whom could have been pre-listed by clubs but were passed up, are still being rated so highly in some circles.

Assuming no massive sliders my predictions are (not necessarily my want):
18: Hrovat
19: Clurey
20: Garlett
38: Spencer White

18. Dayle Garlett

19. Jesse Lonergan

20. Tim Membrey

39. Sam Colquhoun

82. Daniel Currie

would love Simpson or Stringer..... Just cant see them still there at our picks.

18. Stringer
19. Kennedy
20. Lonergan
38. White
80. Currie

Would be my absolute dream draft
Really? My dream draft would be
18 Whitfield
19 Toumpas
20 Grundy
38 Stringer
80 Wines

But I do see your point ;)

I just saw a doco in which a juicy funnel web spider is caught and devoured down in its burrow by the meanest looking centipede which suddenly swarmed down the spider's hole. The poor creature had no chance against the impressive weaponry and size of the centipede. Fortunately your personal circumstances seem much more favourable than what the funnel-web's tunnel can offer in comfort and security.

I wonder if Spencer White, Kennedy and Currie will be around still at our selections. Something less sinister than the centipede will most likely have swooped earlier in the draft and carried them away. White did go at 25 in our PD, but could go later as in many PDs. Currie may go early although Adelaide is one team along with the Roos interested in him and the crows no longer have their fist 2 picks. They are good selections

Boston looks a skilled natural footballer in his highlight's video. Is he a bit one paced? I selected him for the Roos in our PD at 48.
NFI, TBH. I was just doing some classical BF groupthinking there. :p

I heard that he was in the GC zone, but they already had taken their maximum allocated players so couldn't get him... could be wrong
