Don't be ridiculous, Cloke kicked OK today.
I thought he tried all day and was one of our better players.
I some of the others had his attitude, we might have actually had a chance to win.
McCarthy isn't ready, and playing Barham would be laughable. But i tend to agree we should try some of our younger brigade out. If after today, people can't see we're not good enough to win a flag this season, you really need a reality check. Take out our win against Geelong this season, and look at it.

We might not go very far but we will make finals.
There will be a few players retire at the end of this year and I'm guessing we will make some serious trades and serious delistings.
The questions have got to be answered.

STANLEY - looked too slow when they played him. Have real doubts over his long term ability to succeed
ILES - seems to have taken a step backwards from last year
McCARTHY - has not rated a mention in the best players and is a first year player and late draft pick
COX - tried and found wanting, though I'd like to see him get a go in the VFL midfield
COOK - another ordinary looking player who must have been as surprised as anyone when Collingwood picked him in the early 20's of his draft
McAFFER - deserves a go in the seniors if he plays well again tomorrow
DAWES - as others say, he probably needs to dominate in the VFL to get a game

Stanley looked slow? as slow as johnson and o'bree?he is getting no opportunity at all.
Iles have you been to seen any VFL games this year?or even read any results? Iles consistently in the best, has been pushing for selection all year but MM gives toovey a game instead and cox. and MM keeps persisting with johnson O'bree and goldsack.
Iles and Stanley are miles above goldsack.

I don't mean to dwell on last season but merely show that there are some positives... positives in that I still believe that no matter where we finish come September we are capable of upsetting sides.
The reason today was so frustrating is that we all know what we are capable of. When we are switched on we are dead set scary for opposition sides, the problem with us is that we can't stay switched on. This happened last year with thrashings by Brisbane and losing to Richmond and Melbourne. Come September though you can bet that we will finally be switched on and you can bet that whoever we play will be deadset worried.

Have you ever been and watch the above boys in the VFL.....
Stanners too slow. He played one senior game hurt his ankle in the first quarter and had an injection in it.... Seen him recently no didn't think so...
Isles Been in the best a lot of the time. There is not a position for him yet he is waiting his time like Stanners. MM prefers to play nearly has beens before the young ones.
McCarthy playing in back line at the moment to learn the craft as Stanners and others have had to. Would also play much better than half the team did today. Just because he is a first year player does not mean anything. He too is a beauty.
Cox and Cook both players worthy of playing also.
McCaffer should get up graded at the end of the year. Playing well and is a great kick at goals.
All can and do play great footy. Why not give them a go. As if we will win against Hawks with the team we had in this week.
Instead of knocking the up and coming get behind them and actually go the Labour Park tomorrow and watch them first hand and then tell me they are not good enough!!!!!!!

Thanks for enlightening me. I watch the VFL on TV, but living the opposite end of Melbourne means I don't see their games. I do read all Browny's reports on the games. I was basing my opinion of many of these players on their senior appearances.
I thought Iles was a real prospect last year and in the pre-season - his disposal and decision making, as with Cox, are superior to Shaw or Johnson. However, he has not been given a senior game this year.
Stanley looked unable to pick up the pace of the game in his last senior appearance. I know he consistently features in the best players at VFL level, but is he going to be able to step up a level if he is brought into the team now.
Cook has looked OK at times in his few senior appearances, but I would love you to tell me what you think he can offer the senior team. Otherwise I agree with your assessments. You would know a lot more first hand if you go to VFL games.
