Yep, for once youre right.

Outside mid? Like Stanton, Zaka, Goddard, Merrett (transitional), Ashby (from reports), Browne and Colyer?

Pure winger was the type I would go for, but honestly I would go best available. We don't have the luxuries to gamble too much in the draft, with the exception of Garlett.

What's ur point? Lol. My point was we lost on a draft pick. The club is going to be playing finals next year so it didnt really hurt us. We are not the first club to bust with an early pick?

Looking at the respective career paths of Richard Tambling and Lance Franklin makes me feel better about things a bit more quickly ;)

We did but if we were to go KPP and we were we picked the right one. The only one that was in contention was Leunberger. Was a clear gap between those two and others in KPP's.

Or how about Mitch Thorp...every club has disasters, especially early. It is why you need a balanced list to cope with recruiting duds.

Although we wish him the best I reckon gumby s body will now only allow him to be an ok to solid footballer if everything goes well.

Second efforts to collect missed marks are lacking.. not from will but from lack of body bend, and the running gait now looks permanently rigid.

I don't really think this one will come back to bite us. I Wish him well to get the best out of the rest of his career though.

Good luck mate.

Id say its a pretty average trade period for us.

Crameri went for cheap

Gumby was worth more to us than pick 55 (58?) and why he would leave for a one year contract to really not be set on getting that many more opportunities is strange, im not sure there would be any go home factor for him.

We got 2 real unknown kids with pick 48. Taking on an extra player in Aylett which is why we got the deal over the crows means a Davey/Pears needs to make way.

There wasnt alot we could do but we have been pretty poor with our trading.

Very happy we know how to target a FA in Goddard and Chapman. We really need a big season now as we dont have room in our best 22-24 to develop real young kids.

What!??! If Pears can get back to his unjury free 2010? season hes def in our best 22. davey/jetta gone imo, time to develop merret/kav more, hell even nick obrien looks solid if not raw.
With both cashmeri and gumby going we aren't so deep in our big man stocks as we would like to be

Jetta is contracted, so it's left between Davey/Pears - davey looking pretty likely to be on the chop? maybe a re-rookie... I personally wouldn't though.

Like you said there wasn't a lot we could of done, both Bulldogs and freo had us bend over, they could of both walked for nothing so nothing we could of done. I really don't no what trades we could of done without getting rid of players in our best 22. think we did the best we could with the situation. There was better deals for Crammers hence why we took so long to trade him, but with Bulldogs Pre season pick he would of landed for nothing. just cant see how it is our fault.

Pears and Davey are the only ones out of contract. As much as people would like to see Jetta go (id like to see him stay) he wont be going anywhere under contract. Trying to develop him as a midfielder last year and build up his tank had several high possession games at VFL level whether he can continue with that or become a small forward again im happy to warrant his contract.

Highly doubt Pears will get back to his best and even if he does is there room in the side for him? hes purely backup IMO.

Best wishes to Gumby. And I honestly mean that. I have no hard feeling over him moving at all. I genuinely hope he takes the game by storm next year.

Welcome officially to the club Chappy, at least you legit want to win a flag, unlike Dal Santo. As for the other scum that wanted him, Carlton... Well they ended up with Andrejs Everitt and kept Bootsma!!!!

Awesome trade period!

Think post fletcher... as much as we are in denial he won't be making it to retirement age so our 3 key backs will be carlisle(can go fwd), pears and hooker. Key Fwds, Hurley(can go back), Daniher, Resting ruckman (ryder, belly). Not much depth is we lose one to injury. Sean Gregory still has a way to go to be even considered for a first team spot.
Davey and Jetta are good on their day but i've seen to much inconsistency from them. One game i'm a Jetta>Davey fan and the next i'm Davey>Jetta

Davey occasionally has a good game, but I can't remember the last time Jetta did well.

TBH, maybe Davey going could be a godsend to Jetta? Admittedly they're looking at Jetta to do more midfield time than Davey did/would, with Davey out at least there's likely to be more opportunity for Jetta to get a consistent run at it, at least early in the season. You'd then have to say that R1-bye is make or break for Jetta.

EFC have cut players under contract previously so don't think this (being contracted) entirely excludes Jetta from being a potential delistee.

Wouldn't do well for our finances. Afterall, the $2m fine and the $1.5m loss from building the HPC won't allow us much room to move IMO.

If we do delist Jetta, then he would (IMO), go straight onto the rookie list if no one takes him in the National Draft.

If someone else did take him in the ND, does that mean that they have to honour his contract or do EFC have to continue to pay it?

The new club would probably take over and void the current EFC contract.

I'd get rid of Jetta onto the rookie list if that is possible, but if it wasn't for Davey's kids he'd be the first on the block. Pears is too good to delist, I suspect we left him to last as trade bait but no one was interested.

Not to mention if we delist him his salary will go straight into our cap, the logical choice if you ask me is Davey.
