List Mgmt. Player Ages Thread

Kakkle has summed up the Jetta situation.

He needs to look at other clubs - Other clubs will be interested.

Could see the WC being interested in Pears, with Glass likely to retire and M.Brown likely to move back to Melbourne.

With T-Bell/Pears/Gumbleton being discussed for trade - not forgetting the retirement of Hille - We need to keep at least two of the aforementioned players.

I doubt Mitch brown goes unless he doesn't re - sign. He is getting games in a WCE backline that contains Darren Glass and Eric McKenzie this year.

Perhaps the Saints come knocking? Scott Watters declared after there loss to Richmond they need big bodied defenders, could Pears fit the bill? I wouldn't trade Hooker no matter the deal, he has become ny on untouchable for mine.

Been paying slight attention to this thread, if TBC wants to go and collingwood has been mentioned, how about a trade for Brodie Grundy. Or is no-one interested in this kid?

If TBC wanted to leave then I'd look at it, but you very, rarely, if ever see KPP for KPP trades occur.

What's the deal with him any ways?

Well hopefully we offer TBC a deal, but a trade with Collingwood Straight swap for Sidebottom was suggested on main board.

Yeah, I saw that

I'd suggested that trade on the D&T in a conversation between eth-dog and myself board long before the main board suggestion.

Could that be a possibility? I dunno, is sidebottom a type of player we need? Absolutely

Do we have any interest in the GWS no.1 pick?

What would we offer? Maybe TBC and Gumby to get it done

To be honest, I think it's all trash talk and GWS would happily acquire Tom Boyd.

Any trade with GWS would realistically need to involve a clubs first pick and a GUN best 22 player, something both TBC Gumbleton aren't.

Yeah, he did. If they lose Thomas to FA I doubt it'll happen though

Would do this, but ask for a bit more from Collingwood. Grundy played some good footy for the Norwood league side as an underage player last season, however we're asking him as a 1st year player not getting a game to be traded for a player entering his prime who is struggling to get a game on team balance. We have all seen what TBC can do.

Grundy will be a player and Collingwood should hold onto him given the age of Jolly and Hudson, and the jury still being out on the older hence more physically mature Witts.

The comments about the potential de-listings are probably being informed by the hatcheting of 9 or so players last year. I'm not so sure that it will be the same again this year. Many of the players we cleared out last year were those left over from the previous regimes who were given a chance to prove themselves even though they were probably never in TRB's plans.

The list is now almost exclusively made up of TRB's desired players. We can only take Hird at face value when he makes comments about the worth of players like Pears and Gumby which he never made about Dyson, Reimers and the others who were cut at the end of last year.

While I don't think we should do it, we will entertain seriously good trade offers for Pears and Gumby. There isn't anyone else left that would command a trade of any real worth and there are a number of talented but very young players TRB has selected left on the list.

I don' think there'll be many changes at the end of the year as it is time to let the list settle again.

As much as you'd like snaffle every young jet, personally I'm thrilled to see Port getting their shit together and building for the future. At their best they're a massive asset to the competition.

There are plenty of young jets in the comp but I have been positively gushing over Wingard this season. I'm on record as saying he's pretty much the 1st player I'd take from an opposition club atm, then a couple of days later that dream (let's be honest it was only ever a dream) is shattered. You see him play and he just has "it".

Here's what I would do at Essendon:

1) Trade Bellchambers, Crameri and Hooker for Pick #1 which the we use on Tom Boyd.

2) Hope the 2013 draft pans out as follows:

Pick #1 - T.Boyd (elite full forward)
Pick #14 - J.Billings (elite half forward)
Pick #31 - D.Garlett (wing / half forward, elite talent)
Pick #49 - D.Cameron (project ruckman)
Pick #67 - W.Rioli (classy forward pocket - body shape and fitness issues)
Pick #85 - A.Heppell (half back flanker, good reader of play, shorter than brother)
Pick #103 - J.Neagle (F/S) (marking mid sized forward)
Pick #121 - J.Clothier (NSW Scholarship) (big bodied midfielder)

In the rookie / pre-season draft I would take: M.Sikora (206cm mature age ruck) and J.Toy (former gold coast utility, elite kick)

Utilise father-sons in 2014 including: J.Long (speedy skillful winger), T.Van Der Harr (KPF) and in 2014 or 15 (unsure - perhaps HM or Yoda could confirm): T.Wallis (well regarded MID) and N.Neagle (well regarded, unsure of role)

Our 44 man squad would then look as follows:

SENIOR SIDE:

FF: J.Daniher T.Boyd W.Rioli
HF: D.Garlett S.Gumbleton J.Billings
C: B.Goddard J.Watson D.Zaharakis
R: H.Hocking P.Ryder D.Heppell
HB: J.Ashby M.Hurley C.Dempsey
FB: M.Hibberd J.Carlisle T.Pears
INTER: J.Winderlich D.Myers J.Melksham
SUB: E.Kavanagh
RESERVE 22:
FF: D.Cameron J.Neagle A.Davey
HF: L.Jetta T.Van Der Haar J.Merrett
C: J.Long B.Howlett B.Stanton
R: W.Hams M.Sikora T.Wallis
HB: D.Van Unen A/Steinberg A.Heppell
FB: M.Baguley S.Gregory K.Hardingham
INTER: N.Kommer J.Clothier J.Toy
SUB: N.Neagle

*NOTE - anyone currently on the list not mentioned in the proposed 44 man squad has been on traded or delisted.

GWS won't be entertaining multi-player offers for picks - they need to shrink their list.

I hear what you're saying, but they have many young players that haven't 'come on' to delist. Some senior bodies - TBC, Hooker and Crameri would be more positive additions than keeping a host of 'never gonna make it kids'

And we're also paying way overs. Bellchambers + Pick 15 would get the job done. Throw in Pears if we can snaffle Giles as part of the deal

We'd ideally like to keep pick 15. Added to this is the non-requirement of Crameri and Hooker. Ensures the deal

Hooker and Crameri are more required than pick 15 and Pears.

First round draft picks are the key to not bottoming out - which is what we've done since 2001.

Pears is a better player than Hooker.

Crameri is not better than Boyd, Gumbleton or Daniher.

Hooker and Crameri, while serviceable footballers, and no doubt beneficial to the team that picks them up, are not going to get us to a premiership in our structure. They are better used as a means to and end

Yoda is right.

I remember Reimers almost exclusively played midfield in the VFL, but played as a half forward in the AFL.

I don't understand the reasoning.
Its mostly tank/endurance and strength

Guys are playing in the VFL because they are shit compared to AFL players. They arent strong, fast, fit enough and the AFL shows that up.

Its shown in both ends of the field its just not so evident to the human eye.

If you tracked VFL distances ran they would run far less at far slower speeds comapred to afl mids. The same would be for their bench press, core, squat strength test aswell in combination with that endurance the same would be for speed aswell as a combo of all the above it would generally be far less.

I've been very much against trading Bellchambers but you have to consider it for the number one draft pick. Bellchambers + Pick 15 would be a good offer, although I think Bellchambers + Pears would also be reasonable based on GWS' needs.

Do you know how many 1st round draft picks since 2007 Geelong have in their side? One. Harry Taylor

Hooker has outperformed Pears every year from 2010 onwards. Hooker is by far the better player.

Talent wise? No. On output? Most definitely.

Funny, I could say the same about Pears.
