Pick 1s are rarely worth their number 1 either.
Best out of these would be Riewoldt, Hodge and Goddard that have truly lived up to the number 1 pick.

I know talking in hindsight is pretty pointless, but would you take those players with the number 1 draft pick again?

Gibbs is the hardest player of the bunch
I'd love to have what you're smoking. First suggesting Hurley and Bellchambers for Adams and pick 1, then this?
Why would GWS be keen to help us out?

I've heard that there's some kind of "gentlemens agreement" between clubs that you don't bid anything later than a second rounder for somebody else's father son. So if they're a gun it's game on, otherwise you just let the club take him late.
Could be bullshit, who knows.
Sarcasm does really work via the net huh
An a few ppl seemed they would consider the TBC + Hurley trade. I would only do if we recruited 2 rucks, 1 mature age and a youngen
Mate, watch this place explode if GWS sign Buddy, everyone will assume they're giving away the top pick.He is not worth pick 1. He just isn't. Tom Boyd is that good, but if you are talking pick 1 you are talking Nic Nat. Bellchambers is good, he isn't AA good though. Alone he is probably worth around pick 5-10, so it would require some serious steak knives to get pick 1. Pears + TBC might, but if I were GWS I wouldn't deal.
This has probably been asked a few times but seeing as we dont have a 1st and 2nd round picks in 2013 draft and no 1st round in 2014, do we still get 3rd and 4th rounds etc in the 2013 draft?

I think we should give up Bellchambers for either an Adams, or a top ten pick IF it guarantees us a gun young mid
It is all about getting a top 10 pick to use to get a player who can help us win now.
Watson and Goddard will be 29 next season, Stanton is 28.
The rest of our core is quite young, but we need to make a move to get into the top 4 next season. Worst case scenario is our younger core will get experience and find out what it takes to be contenders. I suggested Montagna, but it can be anyone.
Use a late pick on Dayle Gartlett, make another trade for a pick in the 25-20 range to use.I don't know the talent in the draft well enough so based on the little research I've done we could target a kid like Kennedy-Harris or Sheed.

Would love to pick up Dayle Garlett, small forward/midfielder with the ability to play at AFL level next year is exactly what we need imo.
The talk is that norf are keen to grab him with there second rounder, would be good if he could slip through to the 3rd round and we could nab him with our pick 41.
With Hille retiring we will need another ruckman even if TBC stays. Rookie a ruckman with previous experience I say. The most obvious one that springs to mind is Cameron Wood. He's no star but would be an adequate backup in the event of injuries. Collingwood gave up pick 19 for him from memory. Not sure what he has done this season after being delisted last year but this is the sort of player suited to a rookie list purely as an insurance policy.
So much trade talk doesn't make sense to me. If Bellchambers is good enough to command a top 10 pick does it not follow that he is good enough to be developed into the club's number 1 ruck? One more preseason with the sort of improvement shown in the last should just about do it. So much flows from Bellchambers' development.
Contrary to popular belief, Ryder's best games were always in tandem with Hille. Ryder generally rucked later in games when he could jump over a battered opponent and otherwise run him off his legs. We then get an exceptionally mobile third tall forward who is seriously good at ground level and for who ground level pressure comes naturally which helps breath life into the forwardline.
As far as the hard leading half forward option is concerned Crameri is about as good as it gets. He just needs to stay fit and have the focus taken off him by playing alongside Ryder/Bellchambers and hopefully a combination of Hurley, Daniher and Gumbleton (I mention Gumbleton because Hurley should replace Fletcher). I think some of you need to remember that Crameri is still a relatively inexperienced player who has struggled to get a decent run at the game because of his body. He certainly has the physical attributes required to be a half forward.
