how do people compare ...

bartel, abblet, thompson and swan...

make the comparison based on value for money..

i have gone with swan as i feel that he is a semi bargin at 450k.. does bartel and abblet really deserve the extra 50k?

also how do people rate richo? is he worth the price tag?

Best would be Swan or Ablett. Swan based on he will probably hold his price or not lose much, but ablett for a very solid captain choice right from the start.
I think he is worth the extra money, even if u lose a bit on him.

Ok having trouble getting a defender for $370k>
Shaw v Newman v Lockyer. Or any others worth considering?

Adcock vs Malceski

Can afford either of these 2 as my 4th/5th back.
Adcock looks like he's playing backline this year, which is where he scored well 2 years ago. By the same token, he was playing abit tighter during the NAB and didnt score great.
Malceski I'm not sure on. He's played tight most matches during the NAB too, but he will likely be used to rebound from the 50.

Who would you pick and why?

Tough choice, but I would go Adcock. Safer bet as far as injury goes, and regardless of his role he will score >70. Malceski is a big injury worry, but has more potential.

Colin Syliva vs Ryan O'Keefe

Potential vs mr consistent. We all know the hype behind Sylvia - first full preseason, plays a DT friendly game. But he has missed lots of games, in every season so far. O'Keefe on the other hand is unlikely to average higher than 85, but this is countered by the fact he doesnt miss game - 1 in the last 5 years.

Thoughts?

Yeah I'm leaning towards Adcock, purely because I know his game better.

I'd go Sylvia personally. He tore it up last week and was BOG with 20 something touches, 2 goals, bundle of marks and tackles. Would've been one of those 130-140 games. I think O'Keefe will slide backwards this year. The swans are going to struggle, and he seems to be pushing up the ground more, doing some of the grunt work and getting less marks than you'd like. I'd predict Sylvia to average 90, O'Keefe to average low 80s.

Houlihan + J Riewoldt/Veszpremi vs Adock + Sidebottom/Yarran
Houlihan has looked like making some decent scores of around 70 judging by his NAB cup games. You would think Riewoldt would be ahead of Veszpremi because Ves has been injured so we have not been able to see him.
The positive with picking Adcock over Houlihan is that i believe he has a much better chance to get a 90+ average for the season. Yaran v Sidebottom is a pretty tough 1. Sidebottom looks like his got more potential to score better but Yarran looks like his got better job security.

I have Cox as my starting ruck and i am not too confident on McIntosh as my 2nd. Should i just leave it as it is, or downgrade McIntosh to someone like White and also have 2 bench ruck that look like they will get games and have 170k to spend on the rest of the team?

Personally, I would leave as is. I doubt White could average 40ppg (2nd ruck players like Seaby and Laycock only average low 50s) whilst HMac should average 70+ as North's 1st ruck

Yarran v Krakouer v Sidebottom
Yarran and Sidebottom are about $60-80k cheaper and have the potential to score about the same as Krakouer. That money could then be used in other areas to make further improvements.

Raines + Waite/Gram/Gilbee v Houlihan + Adock

I know that Raines has been quite hyped up on BF, but im beginning to doubt that he will play the HB playmaker role for Richmond as they already have McMahon who was traded for exactly for the role. However, if he does play i would think that his average would be similar to that of Houlihan. Adcock could average anywhere between 70-90, where as Waite/Gram/Gilbee will definately average 80-85, but will not increase in price much.

So basically what im asking is who would be a better player to take a gamble on, Raines or Adcock?

Do you think HMac's spot is safe with Hale and Petrie?
goodwin vs gian vs didak
Didak then Gian then goodwin.Didak has looked very good this pre season in the games and looks to contiune off where he left last season. I am guessing the same or maybe a bit better season for Gia since he has had a full pre season compaired to last year. Goodwin looks like he will get the hodge role in our team but its a bit of a risk to pick him with his age and he did struggle with his back last season

Wasnt quite that much, he ended up on 118. Still, you make valid points. I think that Sylvia will average more too, but I trust ROK to play 22 games so he will probably score more points by seasons end.

Hey guys I am still struggling with my team a little. Especially in the ruck department and weather or not the rookies that I have picked will play? Can anyone give me a few ideas that may improve my team please?
