From what i have seen on the Melbourne board Buckley is right on the fringe of the best 22, lots of people seem to have included Petterd which is a good sign also (although i don't think any teams (maybe 1) i saw had both of Petterd and Grimes).

yeah fair enough, just thought the fact that the top sides generally score more overall DT points than the battlers do. Cox is a freak, he's always gonna dominate. he's miles ahead of any other Ruckman in the comp IMO. Although i'm getting on Hille to push for AA this year

Cornes is an interesting one, since 2005 his averages against the following teams are:

Rd 1 Essendon: 96.5 (2 games)
Rd 2 West Coast: 112.8 (5 games)
Rd 3 Melbourne: 120 (3 games, didnt count one game of 14, assumed injury)
Rd 4 Hawks: 99.8 (4 games)
Rd 5: Saints: 103.8 (5 games)
Rd 6 Adelaide: 102 (8 games)

Average of 105.8.

Cornes every day. We know what he's capable of and is underpriced. Gibbs is still young and you'd think would still be partial to inconsistencies.

I have both in my midfield at the moment, Cornes is too good to leave out IMO, if simply for the fact that "he should start well" and provide a decent captaincy option.

Its hard to determine Gibbs at this stage as there is a lot of conjecture about his role and what not, also even if he is in the ideal role (midfield, not tagger) we can't really predict his score as he didn't have too much MF time this year (had a bit of time there and scored well in most but we don't know what a permanent role could do for him DT wise).

TBH, ATM i'm just rating him mainly on the fact he went at 1 in one of most highly touted drafts (06) and he just looks to have the composure/demeanor and football ability to be a true champion player.

Each time i think of Gibbs i remember how much hype there was over him (he was named in Carlton's leadership group for 07 before he had even played a game). You got to love the players that kick a goal with their first kick (Cotchin) too.

For the comparison, easily Cornes but i would not be surprised if Gibbs put up huge numbers next year.

A quote i just made up then, "The realms of possibility extend farther than many an eye can discern."

Basically what i mean is that anything is possible with this kid and i would not be surprised if he was putting up Bucklyish numbers in a couple of years time (DW and C23 also seem to share that consensus)

2008 he managed 13 and its only because of a hand/finger IIRC.

Unlikely he will damage his hand again especially after he has plates in it.

He had shoulder and knee trouble which ended his season, not the broken finger which only kept him out for a couple of weeks.

Yeah it is a little like Lucas, quite a few people i have seen consider Lucas in the middle category for durability (Prone ---> Middle ----> Durable) because one bad year (incredibly almost 5 full years before that) has soured their perseptions of him.

I guess the main worry with Lucas is how his age will prolong his recovery from injuries but i would still consider him highly durable.

For Cornes, he has played 192 out of a possible 214 games over the last 9 years (take out his first year in 99) which is almost 90% of games played at an average of about 20 a season which i would definitely take.

The problem like Lucas is his age though.

A lot of Cox stats come from cheap marks in the backline. Judging by the fact Embley's scores went massively up and Priddis, who is notorious for being a cheap ball winner, didn't go down despite getting tagged every week indicates the Eagles shitness probably helped Big Cox.

True, but at 236k i think he is too good to pass on. Still capable of 75 average which is a small u pgrade to a premium that drops in price. At the moment I think Lucas has more upside than Higgins or Alwyn

Yeh for sure. Lucas' huge DT potential is shown through the previous year averages he has produced:

2007, 88.4
2006, 97
2005, 83.9
2004, 78.7
2003, 79.1
2002, 74.6
2001, 72.2

I think 70+ is the least we can expect. Having produced great scores from 2005-2007, i think even 80+ isnt out of the question. Either of these would allow almost a straight trade to a fallen premium such as brown, although for some he may even become a keeper.

Well that's true, if he can average 75-80 then he could be a keeper as the 7th forward. Would be other places to upgrade first before upgrading a 75-80 player.

Also the thing with Lucas is that we may only need him to avg 75 over the first 8 rounds for him to be able to be traded to a fallen star. However if he continues to avg this i dont think many people will be getting rid of him before others in their side. Thus he will almost become a porplyzia type scoring (08) keeper. If he avgs over 80 i wont be getting rid of him. However if hes only avg 70 and theirs a premium to get than i will trade him but not before other forwards in my side. I think Lucas should be kept unless of injury and if hes really struggling until rounds 12-15. I see that as the time to trade him out for a premium if you have been lucky with your trades and have a few remaining for late injury.

Also have been scanning over the pre season reports for each side and noticed that Des Headland was getting a huge rapt for how well he is going at the moment. They expect a big year from him!!

Yeh well if their werent other pressing matters for my team than i would probably try to upgrade to a gun premium. If he averages 80 though it will be a hard to decision as to whether to keep him or upgrade him as its kinda middle ground, but i think it will all depend on whats available.

If Chad is a back then i think he will be in A LOT of teams being priced so well. If he is a midfielder only, then probably a lot less sides.

If Monty reads this perhaps he could confirm for us what percentage of teams Chad is in? (and of those teams i reckon atleast 90% of those would be as a defender).
