Dunn has another year on his contract and was close to selection early this year before he injured his knee. I think Browne will get another year i'm sure he has what it takes, Webster is questionable i think he's bulked up to much for a midfielder.

With our retiements etc...I reckon all 3 will be on list next year.

Browne is the only ??? mark. He has been very good (once again) for Claremont in last few weeks but injuries are his & the clubs concern.

Browne has been crushing in the WAFL the last few weeks, if they have confidence he can stay relatively injury free then he should stay. I mean we keep playing Haselby!

I really don't think Webster should be cut, he played one average game this year, and a handfull of good ones.

Just wanna know if freo will keep:

Ryley Dunn?
Andrew Browne?
Luke Webster?

Ryley Dunn is contracted, will definately be on our list next year. I'd like to see him groomed as a back pocket over summer, we need support for Hayden now that Parker is gone.

I'd give Browne and Webster a 12 month contract if Bell retires. Haddrill, Walker and Cook will be delisted, so that frees up our 3 picks in the draft. Trading Murphy will free up a spot for 4 selections, that should give us a good batch of talent. Plus Copping, Rumble and Parker will free up three spots in the rookie draft, that's 7 new kids.

I reckon the list size is too small. The league is getting $780 million in tv rights, they should increase the senior list from 38 to 42. Every season there are clubs limited to 26/27 fit players to choose from, and each year talented 21/22 year olds have their dreams shattered because of a bad run with injuries. In other sports they aren't getting drafted until 21/22
years of age.

Foster will be upgraded, so that means they need to free up at least 4 spots on the senior list to accommodate him + the 3 mandatory picks. Then there'll be the 4 rookie spots (Foster, Parker, Copping, Rumble) - still giving us the 7 new players... just a different combination.

If Belly goes and they trade Murphy, that will be 4 spots on the main list (take out Bell, Murphy, Haddrill, Cook, Walker but add Foster) + the 4 rookie spots... giving us 8 youngfellas to pick up. :thumbsu:

I forgot about Foster. Since this is his first year on the rookie list I'd probably leave him there next year. There is bugger all chance of J-Lo playing next year, meaning that Foster would be available for selection every week even as a rookie listed player. That way we give Browne one last crack at it, assuming Bell and Murphy depart.

Are you serious??? Foster back on the Rookie List??

What???

Would you - in all honestly leave Foster on the rookie list and not play him? You cannot be serious

The guy is the future. IMO he is first team from now on. We just have to do it.

We should on the other hand get tough and delist Longmuir - we all know his knee is fcuked, sad, but that is the reality of it.
Haddrill, Browne - just too injury riddled - gawn
Bell - ??
McManus ??
..and possibly trades we cannot factor in at the moment.

Have you guys been drinking? I'll give odds of 50 to 1 that J Lo won't be ready to go for the first half of next season, and almost certainly won't play in 2008. Which means that Foster will be available for selection every round, even though he's technically on the rookie list. I can't see the negative there?

I think some people are getting a bit too excited about Foster. We desperately need young midfielders to take the next step, but he has played one game for 16 possessions. At 22 there might not be much upside, but apparently he missed a couple of years which is actually a positive. He looked good on the weekend, but so have many that have gone before him.

I would have thought Foster would be a dead cert to be upgraded. I know what you are saying, dom, but you've got to consider the actual player's wellbeing too. IMO he has shown enough already (in 2 games, not 1) to suggest that he deserves a spot on the senior list.

What this club badly needs is up and coming midfielders. We still rely to heavily on J Carr, Hasleby and co. Foster is the most likely of those up and comers, so I would be surprised if he isn't upgraded in 2008.:)

I'll be surprised too, but it's worth a thought. If Browne puts his injuries behind him he's a chance to win the sandover next year, when fit his WAFL form has been superb. It would be disappointing if Foster gets promoted then gets injured while Browne is dominating for Claremont but no longer on our list.

Browne >>>> Webster IMO.
