Are you really surprised? Devs aren’t going to spend time hitting VR hard when it forms a minority of the console-playing population - why develop exclusively for VR when they can develop a regular game and hit millions and millions more people. And why delay the payoff for a game currently in development by simultaneously developing it for VR?Its a whole new gaming device, we should be getting ******* brand new IPs. Not the same shit we have played for the last 20 years.

Until a hypothetical time where VR is commonplace, specialised titles will remain few and far between imo.
How much is it? I might give it a shot. I remember playing Wipeout on PSX at the same time as Ridge Racer and I didn't even really like it back then.i will say it again people - Wipeout is the best thing on VR in months!! Great value - great fun!!!

Yup, precisely. These things always struggle to get off the ground for this exact reason. I think VR's best chance is to keep developing the tech so that (a) it's easier to develop/co-develop for; (b) people are more impressed by its capabilities; and (c) it's more affordable for devs and consumers alike. Right now I don't think it's viable enough to truly take off.Its a bit of a catch 22. People aren't going to buy into the VR thing if there are no games.
Certainly elements of truth here but it has the same catch: Sony aren't going to invest in VR until they're convinced it's a viable use of resources...and they're not going to be convinced until it's resourced more.I think Sony put too much reliance on third party developers buying into it and selling the VR. If Sony wanted to make it work then they needed to invest much more money to develop titles themselves to sell the thing. At the end of the day I didn't pay much for mine due to using vouchers and trade ins, but it's probably one of the biggest single waste of investments I've made in a long time.

At the moment it's a risk that neither Sony, Microsoft nor Nintendo need to take.
It's not logical at all but I feel as though there's an element of risk aversion in the industry. I don't think new tech/innovations are invested in as heavily as they maybe should be as a general rule. I struggle to see VR being much different in the current climate.That's not sound logic. With new tech you've got to expect to invest heavily without much return initially.
Same could be said about any new venture.
Mine has had dust on it since Farpoint unfortunately.The price drop has me somewhat interested. Do people consider it worth it at the moment or is it likely to be another Vita?
I love the tech, have used a Vive on PC at work and it's awesome. Main concerns I guess are if it's as responsive as the Vive, and the catalogue. Thanks to Steam there are stacks and stacks of things to smash through on PC, from what I saw on the PS4 titles are very limited still? Is it likely to pick up or is it likely to stay like has been discussed above, no customer take up = no games = no customer take up.
