I agree with the Doughty bit. I would think that Van Berlo would be better value long term.

Surely the Bock inclusion ahead of Fergus is puzzling, even for you ?

Including bock is not puzzling cause he is a young player that needs some games so we can see what hes got. What is puzzling is why they consider Kenny a CHF or FF when he has shown in the past he is not up to it. We are obviously just trying to win games and have little thought for the future. It is puzzling if watts isnt included soon but it shouldnt be at the expense of bock who has less time on his side. Fergus from what i've seen (one game which was apparently his best) aint up to afl level in a KP yet.

There was a moment last Saturday against Brisbane that confirmed for me that in terms of AFL football, Bock is not up to it.

The ball was in the forward pocket. Bock charged for the ball. Not much time was left. It was his moment, his time for the AFC. He picks up the ball, snaps and it is smothered.

If Bock was a genuine AFL footballer, he would have bauked his opponent, straightened up and done something with it. Instead, he is not classy enough and so snaps the ball wildly and it doesn't go anywhere.

It sounds harsh, but he won't make it. Full story. :o

Its only 1 game

Yes, but it was a bloody good game and for the first time i can finally see why he was chosen on our list. He is a good defender and makes me think. If one of Gibson, Smith or Bock can play as a CHB than we can play K-Mac at FF every game.

BUT if you saw him in the SANFL Grand Final it would take a long time to get your confidence in him back - tonight he took some big steps to getting it back and he proved at which of the ground he should be playing.

I did!

Also helps alot when you have a defender the quality of Basset coming over and helping you at 75% of contests. But think about it, in the last few weeks we've come up agaist 3 of the comps top 4 CHF's (Tredera, St. Nick and Browny) and each of them has had a diffrent opponent and each has been nullified. This can only be a good sign!

I prefer him out at halfback rather than too close to goal. Saints were too predictable and Bass knew he just had to be in the area.

Give the poor bloke a chance.
He showed enough times last year to keep persevering with him. Bits here and there that is.
Wait till he is around the 30-50 games mark before judging him harshly or otherwise.

Bock played his best game last night. I was personally startled at how well he did play! :p I've been bagging him all week and am happy to eat humble pie.

The test now is for him to back it up.

The key thing to come out of last night, for me, is that Kenny must be our CHF, at least in the short term until Fergus takes over down the track.

Great win...I'm still on a high & still slightly hungover!

Hmm, my previous post in this thread does look a bit awkward given how well Bock played last night, but I have yet to change my opinion about him. We saw things last year and we saw better things last night.

But he needs to follow that performance with consistency.

However, he really did impress me with his confidence last night. In addition, he took some fantastic marks (how about that one-hander! ) and used the ball much better than previously.

Lets hope for his sake he follows it up again the Blues. :)

Yep, i might have to admit the same Marty but maybe i'll wait until he repeats the performance.

He did do a brilliant job on Riewoldt though. :)

Hasa to get fitter as he severely ran out of legs half time and during the last qtr - hands were brilliant and started to use his body as well - all up some very encouraging signs BUT he's not there yet

He's no where near there yet. One good game doesn't maketh the player - or something like that. However, you have to give credit where credits due, he was great last night.

And he has the neccessary physical attributes to be a very very valuable player - 193cm quick player who can play back and forward who can take a mark - these guys do not grow on trees which supports why the AFC have been so so patient

As has been the case for their careers Bock & Hentschell are equal in the pegging order currently.
