It was Noah I was thinking of. Guess I lost track over the last two years. Thought it was 2020 I was talking to him on FB.Maybe you're thinking of Jake Bradshaw. (2018 eligible.)
This is Noah who was first eligible last year.

You doing a thread this year Ed (sorry if already asked)?Van Es tested really well so the added athleticism will help him even play forward if needed.

Can I direct the same question to you then and steal Bangers thread "assuming the AFL see's sense and changes the NGA rules to 20 instead 40 (40 basically made the whole thing redundant), would that be pretty big for Freo for Draper and to a lesser extent Bourne?"Nope
It’s too early to say where in the draft they would be taken anyway but I would hope they see sense and leave it at 20.Can I direct the same question to you then and steal Bangers thread "assuming the AFL see's sense and changes the NGA rules to 20 instead 40 (40 basically made the whole thing redundant), would that be pretty big for Freo for Draper and to a lesser extent Bourne?"
If I'm speculating, they should be safe from a top 40 bid just from what I've seen, the one you're most likely to miss out on due to the rules would be Conrad WilliamsPMBangers, assuming the AFL see's sense and changes the NGA rules to 20 instead 40 (40 basically made the whole thing redundant), would that be pretty big for Freo for Draper and to a lesser extent Bourne?

Anyone at the top end!I have a feeling if the saints loose this week, which looks likely we could be bottom 4. We need a good mid. Wins heaps of the footy with good skills. Who should we be looking at

Cannons v Chargers practise match on at Highgate currently, Oakleigh leading by 9 points at half time but boy do they look good. Hard to choose a best on for them currently with Wardlaw, Drury, Curry, Voulanas, Tsatas all contributing heavily. Luca Alessio an Essendon F/S has been one of their bests with two goals and some impressive leading
I have also naturally kneejerked and made my entire Top 20 Oakleigh ChargersJust some brief notes on the Calder v Oakleigh practice match from today at Highgate;
CALDER
Overall Calder didn't have many individuals stand out but were pretty competitive, maybe I'm a tinpot watcher though
Paul Pascu (183 cm/ 83kg); Sole Metro Hub member for Calder and an U17's Metro representative, had a really quiet game, if I had to guess I'd suspect he had less than double digit disposals which was surprising to say the least. He did show some good moments with his burst from stoppages but they were few and far between
Luca Alessio (191 cm/ 83kg); Essendon F/S eligible this year and looked pretty ominous in the forward half in the first quarter, lead really well and seemed to react quicker than opponents in transition which meant most of his marks were uncontested, he even pushed up the ground at times to be a high half forward link up player of sorts. Kicked two goals for his troubles but faded away in the second half.
Ruben Rode (171 cm/ 67kg); Essendon NGA and performed pretty well, it's always harder for smaller players to stand out but his consistent and repeat efforts were impressive, laid some good tackles and provided plenty of pressure
Jack Newitt (189 cm/ 80 kg); 2003 birth so has had his opportunity to be drafted but was trialed in a new role as an inside mid today, rack it up well and managed to impact up forward as well. Not sure if he's quite a MSD chance but if he keeps performing like that I'd think he'd move up to VFL pretty quickly
Jamieson Jarvis (192/ 77kg); Another 2003 birth but not one I'm familiar with, didn't have a consistent impact but should some nice athletic traits with his leap and speed, held most of the marks he went for as well which was nice to see. Seems he'll play as a forward mostly but I wouldn't mind seeing him in defense at some stage to see if he can impact across 4 quarters better
OAKLEIGH
Just a stacked team so not surprising that they were so strong, will be interesting to see how they go when APS returns given they've got a lot of key players involved in that competition. Jack O'Sullivan was listed to play but wasn't at the ground so may have been a Health and Safety 'out', Will Elliott hurt himself in the warm up and was limping around afterwards, hopefully only something minor, and Matthew Jeffersen seemed to hurt his left shoulder/ arm to some degree but played through.
Hudson O'Keeffe (202 cm); Looked convincingly the best ruck on the ground, just really smart with his use of body in the ruck contests and controlled his taps well. I think where O'Keeffe is going to announce himself as the best VIC based ruck is his work at ground level and general agility, a few clean pick ups as well as getting off the ground quickly when he was knocked over or fell were impressive
Blake Drury (178 cm); Played more forward than I've seen him do previously but the same strengths in his accumulation and workrate shone through. I've been sceptical on his ball use previously but it was really clean today, very rarely did he not hit a target by hand in traffic which is obviously what you want from your in and under midfielders.
Elijah Tsatas (188 cm [allegedly]); eDPS was just THRILLED to see Tsatas starting on the Wing, where he held his space and timed his runs well to be a good outside option and unsurprisingly hurt with his kicking, but he really impressed when playing on the inside and around stoppages. Tsatas is essentially unmatchable in these situations, his burst speed is too hard to keep up with unless you can read it coming before he sets off and he demonstrated that well through the game. Deceivingly tough as well, won plenty of it contested and was one that put in repeat efforts consistently, getting up after laying or receiving a tackle and cracking at it again.
Ingo Dammersmith (193 cm); 2003 birth in a new role up forward and looked good, read the ball well coming in and was a strong marking target, ending the day with 3 or 4 in the end. Like Newitt I'm not sure he's 'draftable' but he really should play some VFL this year at least
Isaac Barry (181 cm); 2005 born Sydney Father-Son, seemed to be heavily rotated but had some impressive spurts in the midfield, looks like he's a pretty tough inside mid that prides himself on his defensive work like tackling and two way running. It wasn't a 'massive' game in any sense but he should enough to suggest he'll play NAB League this year and will catch a few eyes when he gets more midfield opportunities.
George Wardlaw (181 cm); Yeah not a bad player at all, pretty much picked up from where he left off last season with his in and under work unmatched, and his ability to stand up in tackles continuing to be a highlight of his game. Handballed with ridiculous precision even through traffic which really should be how he looks to play consistently this year. Early on his use by foot wasn't great, some of the kicks were forgiveable but there were some genuine howlers, but he worked into it a bit more and improved in the second half in that regard
Alwyn Davey Jnr (181 cm); Essendon F/S that played a lot more midfield time than I was expecting but it wasn't hard to see why when he was at full flight, has speed and agility that's hard for opponents to read and looked to be one of the best users out there, even under pressure he was hitting targets well. Looked stuffed by the end of the third quarter though, so I expect he'll return to the forward line for season proper
Kynan Brown (180 cm); 2005 birth but showed real toughness around the contest for the day, consistently in and under and tried to really give it to the bigger Calder mids. Most memorable moment was when a Calder player pretty much tried to steamroll him after he got rid of the footy but he stodd strong and the Calder player just bounced off him
Riley Voulanas (173 cm); Collingwood NGA I'm pretty sure and looked damn good up forward, ending the day with two goals but he just played a pretty complete game for a forward, led really well to take some good marks but crumbed brilliantly also. Showed smarts with his positioning and manged to get free in front of the ball a few times to go for runs and pass off.
Harvey Thomas (175 cm); 2005 birth and a GWS academy product, would've been the lightest player on ground but played like he was the biggest body out there. Pretty clean with the footy, was around it a lot without doing much at times but has a good read of play and works to get involved in chain handballs
Nathan Philactides (180 cm); Even if it is just one performance he's one to watch for next year, great run and carry out of defense with strong ball use and put himself in danger a few times with his efforts to win the ball. Has a really strong running background and that showed with just how hard he worked out of the back half, often following up his kicks to get a handball and continuing driving the ball forward.
Angus Curry (176 cm); Another GWS Academy lad, plays in a style not too dissimilar to Drury but arguably slightly cleaner, he managed to impact a bit more in the guts than Drury too but he's a hard worker with his tackling and two way running

I watched the Oakleigh Chargers vs Calder Cannons practice game today and Riley Voulanas was outstanding as a small forward. Great goal sense, applies excellent defensive pressure and is super quick. Kicked a couple of goals and would have had several direct goal assists. One to watch.Who are the best small forward options this year? After desperately wanting Rachele last year, we still need an elite small forward
