What would be required trade wise for Polak out of interest, as I have come across his name on several occasions about being traded.

Hard to say. Depends how desperate the club are to get rid of him, which is probably going to be based on the truthfulness to the alleged off field disciplinary problems. I think everyone rates him as a talent, but the attitude needs fixing.

I'd say you would get a fair bit for him, thered be at least 6 clubs who would be very interested.

Hi Guys.

Serious question for people here.

Trade Lance Whitnall to the Dogs for there first round pick (11).

Ontrade that pick to Fremantle for Polak.

So would pick 11 get Polak or not?

Hang on a minute!

I would rather trade directly with Freo for Polak as I would prefer him than Lance. I think Eade could develop him. Lance is perhaps a safer option for us as we know Lance is a good player. However Lance is more a short term solution whereas Polak would blend in with our talented brigade of youngsters and be there for the longer term.

I would offer pick 11 for Polak. It's hard to see logic in offering more due to his off field reputation combined with the fact that he arguably hasn't quite lived up to the lofty expectation placed on him. But he still commands a decent price because the talent is there.

What do Freo fans think?

noone cares on this board

On Polak, i doubt freo will trade him, unless Polak wants to leave.

How about answering the question I posed then.

Pick 11 for Polak if he wanted to leave????
Considering Polak was a top 5 draft pick in a very strong draft and this years draft is supposed to be weak, i would be somewhat dissapointed in trading pick 11 for polak. Having said that pick is 11 is probably roughly what polak is worth. I guess it is a bit like selling a losing stock on the stock market, on one hand you want to cut your loses, on the other, the stock my rebound and make you rich.

The Bulldogs pick 11 would be competing against the Tigers pick 8 from what I've heard, however I'd prefer to keep Polak.

Get a grip. There is no way anyone would trade Polly for pick 11. Stop dreaming on get off whatever it is that you are on guys.

If the stories are true about Polak have a bad attitude, I still wouldn't trade him for pick 11. For starters, hes 21 or 22. He hasnt mentally matured yet. Id say there would be a lot of players around the league, the same age who have similar problems... it's called being a kid... most guys dont mature till they are 25!! Not everyone can be a Pavlich. Some guys take longer to mature. Polak still has the talent to dominate a game in the future although that day is still 2 years away in my opinion

I'm getting the same feeling about Polak that I had about Croad the year he was traded back to the Hawks. Getting dropped for the last game of the season included. Theres too many rumours around to suggest that he at the least is being shopped around.

For it to be worth Freo's while the pick would have to be good enough to get one of the East Freo KPP hopefuls and pick 8 would go very close to that.

I wouldn't be shocked if Polly wasn't with us next year.

And to answer the question I don't think pick 11 would be good enough (only because Polak is still under contract so if we don't like the trade we can just say 'no deal' and keep him).

Pick 11 would be reasonably fair, although I would prefer a little earlier. A change of scenery might be required, which is a shame because he has the talent. There's talk of his relationship with Connolly being poor, whether it's true or not I'm not sure, but I think he would definately develop quicker under a more disciplined coach. Farren Ray's name has also been mentioned as a possible option to recruit a KPP to the bulldogs. I'm not sure if he is what we need as he doesn't seem to like the physical stuff, although he would bring some much needed pace to our midfield.

Peake and Ray in the midfield *shudder*

At this stage I would probably accept pick 8 from the tigers but I would prefer to keep him TBH

I suggested pick 6 for Polak to a Hawks supporter and got shutdown. My reply was the following:

"
You put a lot of faith in the kids. Not many become stars. Polak showed more in the juniors than any of the highly talked about talls in this years draft.

1997 pick 6 = James Walker
1998 pick 6 = Murray Vance
1999 pick 6 = Damian Cupido
2000 pick 6 = Dylan Smith
2001 pick 6 = Ashley Sampi
2002 pick 6 = Steven Salopek
2003 pick 6 = Keplar Bradley
2004 pick 6 = Tom Williams

Hardly a list you could make a team around. Everyone has hope for the kids because they are an unknown. But history shows that champs come from anywhere in the draft. If its obvious in the juniors they will be snapped up in the 1st few picks. By pick 6 the draft is already becoming a lottery. The only thing you can be assured from the list above, is that most picked at number 6 will make the grade. I'm sure Polak will make the grade so is easily worth pick 6. "

A Geelong supporter suggested Polak for Tenace. At first i scoffed then realised he's exactly the kind of pace we need to inject into the Freo midfield. I like Tenace because of his pace and would love him down at Freo. Though i'd be reluctant to trade Polak unless the deal was excellent given the news on Pavlichs shoulders.

So Polak for pick 8 i'd probably say no. Polak for Tenace probably say yes. I'm sure if i bothered to look up all the previous pick 8's i wouldn't be too impressed. The reason i say yes to Tenace is because he address' the midfield class/pace issue down at Fremantle. But by losing Polak we are betting that Pavlich's shoulders come good.

If pick 8 could get us Kennedy I would be pretty happy. He looked good in the one match I saw him play :o

Also I would accept Tenace but havent seen a whole lot of him. Of course, Geelong fans would scoff at this suggested trade

It's unlikely we will get pick 6 from the hawks for Polak. If Pollie wants to be reunited with his mate Croad at hawthorn it's more likely a deal will be done for Jonathon Hay. Polak for Hay + pick 22 maybe.

Richmonds pick 8 has some appeal but Wallace has said he won't trade their picks, but they are in need of key defenders.

If Polak is traded for Ray there won't be any sweeteners I don't think. Both went at pick 4 in their drafts, both have plenty of potential but have shown only glimpses of that potential so far. I don't think Ray is what we need though. We need a tall midfielder with pace who can win their own footy at the stoppages. Dessie is our outside receiver and we don't need another one.

Polak for Tenace sounds fair. He isn't as tall as Ray (Tenace 182cm Ray 186cm) but has more bulk and can win the ball both in tight and in space. I'm not sure if he would be interested in moving to WA though, and I don't think the cats need any more tall defenders.

My gut feeling is that the dogs will go after Fevola or Whitnell, and if the asking price at the blues is too high they will target Polak.

That just reminded me that Tenace and Dunn are best mates so maybe he can encourage him if there was any chance of this happening

Make that pavlich (as a romour i have heard is that he wants 2 move to Victoria, probably no truth behind it) and you have a deal. And ya can keep Crowly.

Or how about a straight Bartel for Pavlich?
