Hi guys,

Having seen the article in today's Australian about Polak, I thought it might be interesting to find out what you guys would want in exchange from the Dogs?

Any thoughts?

There's a line at the end of an article that says the Western Bulldogs are likely to make a play for Polak. The bulk of the article is about Mal Michael being chased by the Hawks.

I'd really prefer to keep him, no other team has tall stocks quite like we do. Robert Warnock is coming on in leaps and bounds and i wouldn't be surprised if he debuts next year at his current rate of improvement.

Adam Campbell and Graham Polak are progressing very well and provide us with great depth in the talls. Polak just had a 28 possession game on the weekend with marks in the double fiures. Was named BOG in the WAFL.

That being said, if Polak isn't happy at Fremantle, especially as he's gone down the pecking order i imagine Fremantle would be looking for picks or perhaps a midfield type player.

The obvious candidate becomes Farren Ray. With the progression Ray has made this year i think the Doggies would be gutted to lose him.

Being a Fremantle supporter i would suggest:

Polak for Ray
Polak for your 1st rounder (pick 10-12)

But i can see you feeling hard done by, the whole what has polak done anyway etc. If we didn't have MAtthew Pavlich who single handedly dominates our forward half, we would be playing Polak week in week out. Polak also plays key forward. He is a yard to slow to play key defender IMO. He hasn't been used in defence since last year. Not once has he played defence this year.

He likes being the long target and i feel that he and Pavlich only crowd each other. Its the same with Medhurst and Farmer. Polak and Medhurst aren't bad players, they just aren't as good as Farmer and Pavlich.

The other tall we've been playing recently, Ryan Murphy, plays a better second fiddle than Polak, hence his inclusion over Polak. Similarly Longmuir can also play ruck is being used forward in conjunction with Pavlich.

Anyway, thats just my thoughts.

Hard to see the need for him to get a game unless there is an injury, which chances are there will be with longmuir a little prone to a niggle. It also sounds like Warnock could be handy up forward if his ball handling skills are as good as I have heard, but surely that makes it even more difficult for Polak.

I find your desire to keep Polak, at odds with your asertion that he is best suited to the forward line, but not with Pavlich there. Sounds to me like you want him as cover for Pavlich, and in the end that will not be good enough for an AFL quality KPP, and will be expensive in terms salary cap and what he may need to keep him on a list as a "depth" player. It also seems that Campbell already gives us some of the same cover, though at a different stage of development. Don't forget we have some handy talls still to come back in the defenders too (Haddrl and Thornton), plus Drum.

Watched the Rd 6 derby last night, Polak was terrific - including an excellent contested mark on the 50 from a weagles kick in. He has the talent, just not the consistency. Which is a shame as when he's at his best he's very, very good.

Unfortunately for Polak, I think the last 7 weeks have shown that consistency is the key and performing at you best evry 8-10 games is not sufficient.

Apparantly WC are in strong talks with Polak and Medhurst. Both have said they will consider joining the dark side, Freo has not been included in the talks at all. All WC wanted to know is that the players would consider being traded. Doesnt mean they are gone by any stretch.

Isn't talking to players against the rules ? If you what say is true then the 'slime' makes a suitable nick name.

Of course there is going to be rumours started about those two players. They are AFL quality, but not getting a game. I doubt whether WC are talking to them, because there would be no need to go around the rules. Anyway, Polak can't get to them via the PSD, and Medhurst is still contracted, so if good trades are available, then bring it on.

Clubs and players are in contact often, normally through managers but the players and officials do talk. I think its against the rules to try and induce a contracted player to cross over but a simple discussion along the lines of "Paul, would you consider leaving Freo?" isnt that in-depth.

You dont think Freo were in contact with Josh Carr prior to the GF? They were. Its common place.

well have farren ray and a middle level 1st pick

or

Cooney

I'm sorry, this is the same Polak who is playing for the Sharks in the WAFL? The guy who hasnt achieved anything since his first year? The guy who cant kick goals from 20m out? The guy who looks like he has a pole down his back and cant pick up the ball?

You would be lucky to get Ray OR 1st rounder. Let alone both.

Nobody on here has a problem with Polak staying. If the Bulldogs want him they will need to come up with a decent trade. And you imply he has done nothing yet may be worth a trade of Ray or a first rounder. make up your mind. Oh, that's right, he is a tall, strong marking, KPP, and they are valued, especially by clubs who lack them.

No you're thinking of Troy Polak -- his brother. He left the Dockers back in 96 or 97.

Seriously, if you think that Polak wouldn't be worth Farren Ray you need your head read. He'd be a fine replacement for Daniel Hargraves at CHB.

Anyone contemplating recuriting Farren Ray to Freo would also need their head read. We need a full on "burst" player e.g. a Daniel Kerr type. Not a big tank, run-all-day-long, skinny winger.

Spot on mate, i hope Ray stays where he is. We dont need him.

Been saying since 2004 Polly wont get any brains til he's about 25. Couple of years to go yet.
Unless another Club is willing to sell the farm to get him we should keep him. Same with medhurst.
Both IMO are will play a huge part in our future.

That's the most sensible thing anyone has said about Polak in a long time.

according to certian sources, he has eased up on his hobbies and is concentrating on football.

Hopefully next year will see him fire.
