Alright, here's the sitch.

Lets say we've won 1 or 2 games by the bye in round 12.

A settlement has been negotiated with Clarko.

We need an internal candidate to steer the ship for the rest of the season. But ideally they'll do such a good job they'll be extended for the 2027 season too.

Who do you choose?

Barlow: as Werribee coach, he got the club to its first VFL GF in like 3 decades, in 2023. Then won AFL Coaches Association development coach of the year in 2024. Oversaw our midfield last year.

Littlejohn: coached Boxhill to VFL prelims a couple times. Head coach of VFL state team in 2024-25. Only recently joined NM, so unlike the other assistant coaches doesn't have responsibility for any of what we've witnessed over the past couple years.

Clarke: was a development coach for Richmond when they won the COVID premiership in 2020. As assistant coach for our forwardline, he can at least say that our backline woes aren't his fault. Coached the Indigenous all-stars, and vying to become the first indigenous coach of the AFL era.

Adcock: oversees our clusterf**k of a backline, but not sure that can be entirely held against him, when as assistant coach at Brisbane, to contributed to three seasons where they finished second on the ladder.

Crocker: North premiership player. He was caretaker after Laidley in 2009, then was overlooked for Bard. Then he was caretaker after Bard, but was overlooked for Rhys Shaw. Then he became the most successful AFLW coach of all time.

Monkhurst: the DGAF option. Was seen doing burnouts down the Maroondah Highway on his way to the 1990 Grand Final. At least when we're getting belted, he'd be fun to watch on the sidelines.

Has to be Barlow.

The next one i considered was Crocks but he's doing such a great job with the women's team you can't really unsettle it.

What about Little Boris, is he still about the place? At least he didn't have his head up his own arse.

I don't care, but outside of littlejohn and Barlow the rest can go at the end of the year.

Crocker.. some people just know how to get the best out of people.
I’m not waiting for the season to start.
12 goals loss last Friday was enough for me

As an interim it has to be Crocker even though we risk destabilising the women. His simple, straightforward and consistent coaching messages are what this clueless shower of individuals need. Run hard, compete hard, work as a team not individuals, have fun.

Have Barlow, Littlejohn assist him and see if either puts themselves in the frame for the permanent role.

l dont think Crock would take it. Like the saying goes " when you're on a good thing stick to it" . We dont want any type of disturbance affecting our womens team.. l would want someone from outside the club..

The first 3 months of the season will go 80-90% of the way to revealing the future of Clarko as NMFC coach. If there is a uplift in performance against Collingwood in Ballarat, I can see some posters on here changing their tune. We as NMFC fans are so desperate for success that these warm-up games seem to count as the start of the season. I can understand posters frustration if this was after round 1 of the season. But it's not.

I’m happy to cool my heels until after R1. That’s a must win. Although, the Melbourne game did have a sniff of Schimma’s last hurrah about it.
We show the same level of defensive accountability against Collingwood, it’s 120+ and there’s no coming back from
that.

Pack your bags.

Let it play out and hope Barlow proves his worth and takes over.

lol why would Crocker leave a dual premiership team?

I hope it’s an external candidate that has no former connection whatsoever with North.
Crock might have achieved all he wanted in the W.
Hopefully he has some fire to get the Men’s firing as well

I presume the prospect of having his salary doubled overnight would be an enticement of sorts.

Having said that, I think it’s time for someone in their thirties or forties to have a go.

Why?

Because he is North to his bones and his club needs him.

I think Crocker is one of very few that I would want in the role.

What we have lost is any tangible idea of who we are. We are a complete joke in the industry. Players do not want to come to us. Coaches barely want to come.

what needs to be reforged is going to take absolute love for the club and cannot be trusted to someone just showing up for a pay cheque.

Nail on head for me there Only Forwards. Crocker gets what North is and should be. I listened to Kingy on Marnie’s podcast and he gets it as well. Every player must give every game a really hard go as a minimum. No free passes for ‘stars’. Play the kids we need to develop not old guys who can’t take us to the future. Crocker would fix our basics and anyone who won’t run, tackle and fight like a North player will be binned not indulged.
