There would have to be a massive turnover of players to get out of this hole.
This is not going to be easy considering they draft and trade in so much rubbish.

Well there's no way they can trade their way out of this mess - what do they have that other clubs might find appealing? It'll have to be done via draft picks, and as we know, Adelaide's recruiting staff haven't exactly covered themselves in glory in recent years.

Their recruitment has been OK, their retention, on the other hand, hasn't.

This game is very weird. They execute 1 brilliant piece of skill then make 8 schoolboy errors. There’s little in between.

Why are we talking about 'compensating' them for not having the GF?

A) The reason they can't host the GF is their own incompetence.
B) Why do they need to be compensated? Did they actually do anything to earn the right to host the next umpteen Grand Finals, or did the AFL just give it to them?

If the AFL had any balls whatsoever and wasn't an entirely corrupt institution they'd just do whatever they liked with the GF and tell the Victorian Government that if they don't like it they'll see them in court.
