About Dittmar, did he ever play for any Magpie team or just play squash? Or is it just the family connection?

He was a world junior champion or won the British open junior championship when he was 16 or 17 so I doubt he played any junior footy for Port other than maybe those U/13 or U/15 squads they had.

Think he lost about 8 or 9 finals over both the British Open which was the de facto world championship for years, (even after one was in introduced) and World championship all to the 2 Khan's - Jahangir and Jansher.

Hard to see the glenelg players as hacks. All played over 200 SANFL games. Brian Colby was All Oz player in 1969 carnival, Fred Phillis was SANFL leading goal kicker 1969-71 seasons, Marker was a great centreman and played about 18 state games, and Cornes was a proven state player. Bias maybe, but a few others in that squad get put into the hack category before those 4.

Yes I agree, those guys certainly weren't hacks but surely you can forgive me for indulging in some gratuitous Glenelg bashing.

The difference is that Darling is the decoy forward. Half his job is to draw a key defender away from Kennedy.

Walker is the #1 target. His stats should be way higher than Darlings.

Carey actually mentioned Paxman specifically in his autobiography that came out just over 10-11 years ago. Called him an octopus and honest battler and said he wanted to knock his head.
