Looks like Gil will announce the venue for the grand final next week.

Andrews just recently was making noices about the contract between the government and the MCC that guarantees the GF gets played at the G. He's going to lose that battle.
Andrews should have thought of the MCG contract before he declared a state of disaster in Victoria earlier this month. Hard to hold the AFL to that contract after that.

Building momentum

I'm conflicted on this, the designer should have every right to do what they wish with their design (he has sold the rights). It's also a restriction only on those who are looking to capitalise on it's use (as far as I can tell), not the mere flying of the flag.

Lets be honest, the AFL and NRL want to use it to make money.

Also a good opportunity to use the TSI flag instead.

The top rating matches through rounds nine-12 were the round-11 clash between Port Adelaide and Richmond (414,000) on a Saturday afternoon, Melbourne versus Collingwood (389,000) last Saturday, Richmond versus the Brisbane Lions (370,000) on a Tuesday night and Fremantle versus Collingwood on a Sunday.
The strong ratings through this period will add support for a similar compressed fixture at some point through next season, perhaps during school holidays.

Geelong coach Chris Scott is a supporter of having more matches through the week.
“There’s nothing that I’m seeing that says this sort of model is impossible into the future,” he said.
“And from a spectacle perspective, most people I know that follow footy are loving that it’s on every night. You could you do it - our players will probably curse me for saying it’s possible - you couldn’t do it every week, but some version of it is possible.”
Once this weekend's matches are complete, rounds 14-17 will also be compressed in another Big Bash-style fixture, with matches on 18 of a possible 19 days from Thursday.

I'm just hoping they are forward thinking enough to create a proper home and away season out of this.
More matches = more income, PLUS fairer.

Would be comfortable with them keeping the 16 min quarters to allow it.

Should Port pick McCarthy up as a delisted Free Agent?

I’d have him over Wyllie Buzza

**** Cam McCarthy, seriously. We may as well get Butch back. At least he looked like he gave a shit.

We already dodged 2 bullets by not bringing Gorringe or Fantasia to the club - let's make it a hat trick.

McCarthy should have a chat with the Crows. Would walk in and be their best forward from day 1. Still young-ish too.

Jordon Butts sounds like one of Bart Simpson's prank calls.

Congrats to Seymour on his debut.

Thomas has whored the flag out to a commercial flag maker until 2023 as is his commercial right if not his moral responsibility to his people given that his people pay for the flag either directly or indirectly.

As for the AFL, it lives in a very thin glassed 🏠. It protects its copyright more vigorously than the parent of a child at Glenelg beach.

I see it as he sees it. An artist has had his work paid for.

Andrews has been trying to delay the inevitable for as long as possible. It'll be a blow to the "sporting capital of Australia". And Andrews doesn't want to announce that decision. He'll leave that bad news to Victorians to Gil.
