Wingard must have had some game. No goals, no clearances, 2 tackles, 2 contested possessions, 8 disposals overall (5 kicks, 3 handballs) but 338 metres gained. This means he averaged 42 metres per disposal. I'm guessing he just hoofed it as far forward as he could with every kick. I don't think I've seen stats that scream IDGAF as much as these stats.

42 metres gained per disposal and didn't score, even though apparently he was parked at full forward? Something doesn't add up.

Are those having a go at Wingard actually watch the game?
He was stuck in the forward line the entire second half, and Hawthorn got like 10 i50s that whole time. Clarko is killing my fantasy team bc of his refusal to play Wingard in the middle (where incidentally, he was actually OK in the first half). I don't understand the justification for not playing him in the midlle, esp with Essendon winning every clearance in the last quarter

This is getting silly now. How can you defend that stat line. This is bordering on jake neade kinda game.

He doesn't know how to coach.

He gained 30m without a disposal when he forgot to have a bounce.

Umpires really need to clue on that Richmond are prepared to give away free kicks if it forces the umpire to make the decision. They regularly tackle without the ball and push into marking contests when out of position.

arch got pushed at the end of that quarter then. No call. They keep doing it until called

I'll admit he has been poor through the year, and I'm not upset we got rid of him.
But he was stuck in a forward line which didn't receive the ball (I don't know how to find the exact stat, but they had 34 for the entire game, and at least 20+ in the first half). I didnt think he was lazy this game,

Or he does know how to coach, but isn't coaching to win? I dunno, it is a conundrum that I haven't figured out. But I don't see how someone could have watched that game and thought it was Wingard's fault he didn't touch the ball considering how little the Hawks got it up forward

Without seeing the game its difficult for me to accurately reply but youre telling me Chad was stuck in the forward line unable to impact the score board when Hawthorn had 7 goals 10 to half time?

I definitely felt during the first half he was running thru the middle more. He set up a few goals in the first half if Im not mistaken (4 score involvements, whatever that means). But after half-time, he did not appear in the middle once from memory.

And I also want to clarify- he didn't have a good game or anything. But if you watch the second half, see how rarely Hawthorn moved it forward- it was a bizarre game, and keeping Wingard out of the middle and into a forward line with no entry (possibly due to Pattons injury altho I doubt it) did not really give him much of a possiblity for getting good stats

I was thinking watching him last week he looked top heavy. Sometimes these players bulk up and lose that yard of pace.
looks nothing like he did at Port

Exactly right. That being said I saw him fly for one in the Last, but he rarely leaves the ground.

Second half he played on ball for a few spurts. Spent a lot of tome as the deepest forward. Had two passages play where he ran and carried which probably contributed to metres gained but to be honest 300+ seems overs

Its his fault. You can't just be an elite midfielder, like many here have said. You need to put in the effort at training, and on the field. We got rid of him because he doesn't do the work.

His first half was average at best. Zero influence. Looked out of synch with team mates etc.

I don't know why people think being played in the forward line means that he can't venture out the 50. If the ball isn't coming in, there's nothing stopping him from going and getting it. Its called workrate ffs.

Correct - but he didn’t. He generally sat and waited. Admittedly once or twice he had a little space and got burnt by team mates but he looked disinterested apart from a five minute spurt in the second half.
