Those ****ing pricks are going to use covid to shove night grand finals down our throats.

I wouldn’t mind if it was a once off but we all ****ing know they’re going to use the excuse that it was a ratings success to do it forever. Afl. Money over fans.

My theory is and always has been that gut running til your near ready to collapse is the reason why goalkicking is so poor.

skills haven’t gotten worse, only kicking for goal. It’s well known across all sports that people execute skills poorly when they’re suffering fatigue in their muscles and when they’re mentally fatigued.

footballs running and physical contact are far more challenging on the body than basketball or soccer.

I’m not sure why people keep asking why goalkicking is so poor. It’s obvious I think.

Yep, completely agree, combined with the fact that our forward half press means that we generate a lot of lower percentage shots in a crowded F50 compared to our opponents who will mainly generate shots by getting over the top of our press into a more open 50.

Night GF towards the end of October in Qld.

If it's not bucketing down with rain it will be as humid as **** and the game will be just a rolling rugby scrum.

Not sure the AFL are really that keen on anything apart from broadcast ratings and they will be through the roof no matter where you play it or if it's day or night.

From a game standard point of view Adelaide or Perth for me at that time of year.

Yeah but those 2 AAs and BnF were with us. We have them plus Duursma and Burton. Hawthorn have a lazy player who doesn't look like getting back to anything like a BnF or All Australian. We are killing this trade.

from a statistical POV the best value you could ever get from a draft pick is to get the best years of their career then trade them.

we got 150 games from pick 6

traded it for burton, mayes and pick 15 (duursma)

that’s currently running at +55 (205 games from that pick 6) games and has the potential to finish anywhere from 300 - 450 games (450-600 games from pick 6)

for value from a draft pick that would place it in unreal territory.

professional fitness is the sole reason for goalkicking being shit and flooding. players should be forced to do a very limited amount of cardio and have the most incompetent people advising their diets. it's the only way we get out of this mess.

Would welcome Wingard back but it is odd that he's completely hopeless, even as a forward for us 20 possessions/game was also what he gave us.

That said I can't say we won that trade considering Burton is always injured and that Wingard still has 2x AAs and a B&F over the trade package

That last part baffles me, he got those accolades and played those good years at our club, its not as though we traded away those moments lol.

Its like having a great race car, winning a championship and when its not performing like it should be shipping it off elsewhere and getting some newer potentially more valuable car/s in return. Then 2 years later watching said old car finishing at the back of the pack but still wanting to take it back just because of how good it once was.

Im not seeing the issue here tbh. I love the 2:10 traditional GF start time, but a night GF will be something very special.

You can't say we won the trade but I feel confident saying we didn't lose the trade.

I heard a good story today on SEN.

Apparently, Anne Hatchard finished 3 votes behind the winner in the SANFLW (SAWFL?) equivalent of the Brownlow BUT in a game where Hatchard had 42 disposals, the 3 votes went to a teammate who had THREE whole touches all game, wears a similar number to Hatchard and has a "similar appearance".

Supposedly, the SAWFL are "investigating"...

My theory is because they all spin the ball around as they're lining up for a set shot - quite a few of them when they're actually running in to kick the thing. If they all stopped doing that they would all be better at kicking goals from set shots.

And Kevin Sheedy agrees with me.
