A few ovals north of the Zoo and close to Hackney Road.
Rooshitto is redeveloping the Hackney Hotel too, so that would work ok.
Ricciuto and SMA board member Peter Hurley are redeveloping the Hackney. No conflict of interests there.

Their own supporters don’t like Olsen. He’s a pinch-hitter, been brought in to do a job, then he’ll move on.
Yup, he has one job and will be burnt!

Do the dodgy deal, then get a cleanskin in to distance themselves from it.

As I said in an earlier post, I suspect Olsen was brought in because they are targeting a location within Adelaide Oval's existing footprint.
Im convinced theyre targetting Karen Rolton Oval, the mass upgrades and general snobbery that permeates that entire precinct screams Camry Crows.

Not convinced this appointment makes any deals any easier if they have to deal with the council again. Olsen is not liked or trusted and I can't see anyone wanting to bow to his wishes unless there's some corruption going on.
It's Olsen, that's a given, isn't it?

It's not really about trust, it's effectively about blackmail and bribery.

Yup, they'll already have a 10 million head start.

Aren't those all designated University ovals? Didn't the Crows already run into a brick wall there trying to get into the Uni-loop space?
Uni is not in a good place atm. Just the right time for the carrion to swoop.

They might be targeting it but the SACA won't budge - with the amount of cricket played these days and AO being out of commission half the year to them this is their pseudo home now. Gladys Elphick park on the other hand.....

They were talking about developing the area just to the south of Park 9 where the arrow is pointing (which is PAC Old Scholars) and the University Oval just to the south west of that oval. That area in between is where the ACC has a large gardening and maintenance area in there. Seems like a stupid spot to me, and you'd still have all the Parkland lunatics objecting to it, but that is where they were looking at at one stage.

They're just looking for any public land near Adelaide Oval that they can get for free.

They should look at the area in the West Parklands south of Sir Donald Bradman Drive. It is a location that would resonate with their customer base.

Still think the Aquatic Centre is where they want to be.

I still say there isn't a Crows supporter alive that would make it up that hill after a game. They need something at Jolly's Boathouse.

Isn't that where the archery club is?

This is why I suspect something within the existing AO footprint is now the plan. ACC have no say.

John Olsen and corruption o_O

Dodo.... hahahaha

Essendon has reportedly made an audacious first offer to Carlton as the two teams gear up to work out a trade for wantaway defender Adam Saad.

According to The Age, the Bombers asked the Blues for one of Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay or Sam Walsh for Saad.

When that was categorically denied, they then asked for young ruckman Tom De Koning and pick seven.

As tacky and cringe worthy as they sound, those G'day USA type events seem to have been widely successful. Olsen, for all his skuldugfery is no fool. I wouldn't be so dismissive of him. As I said earlier, he became National President of the Liberal Party a couple of months ago, his connections are vast and powerful.
They have been hugely successful. It was big as G'day LA, but became bigger when Olsen went to NY and made it G'day USA. I don't know if its still the case, but the week's promotional activities was the biggest annual foreign nation promotion in the USA, with about 15,000 people participating in events in LA and NY. I think its been rebadged as Australia Week.

With so many Aussies involved in Hollywood it got huge free publicity as the Aussies in Hollywood invited plenty of influential Hollywood types and the media couldn't help but cover it. Then when it went to NY Murdoch got behind it big time so his Fox Network and his papers and magazines gave it plenty of publicity as well as other USA and Oz media outlets promoting it. Think they played a couple of games of footy around it in LA when Olsen was Consul General there. My mate the Airport Economist when he was Chief Economist at Austrade attended one of the early ones and wrote a few articles about it over the years.

It was Olsen's government that developed the Clipsal / (insert new sponsor) 500 and the Tour Down Under to replace the Grand Prix tourism impact.

Underestimate Olsen at your peril. Someone wrote in here they had worked with him and said that he is well connected and will use all his network and scheming to get things done. The guy might be a crook and a campaigner but he knows how to get things done, be it by fair or foul methods. The giant might wake up whilst he is in charge.

" Olsen told reporters .... the formation of the Adelaide Football Club came from the eight SANFL clubs”.

In 1990 there were 10 SNAFL clubs.

Of course one of the SANFL clubs Olsen is airbrushing from the Crows history is Port Adelaide. The Club that gave them their two-time Norm Smith medallist.
