You know what, if the Crows can attract some federal funding that results in Adelaide city council getting a brand new city based aquatic centre, then sign me up as a cheerleader for the cause.

Yep, it's not like Adelaide will put in proper club rooms for Members (if not at AO). The thought of interacting with their customers horrifies them. Plus the customers aren't the type who'd use them, as the Port faithful do Alberton anyway. As long as not at AO itself it doesn't give them any pre or post game advantage over Port.I personally am not all that fussed if the crows want the aquatic centre site. I mean, it's f’ed that it's public land and they'll stop at nothing to get their grubby mitts on it But it's still far enough away from the Oval itself to not bother me that much. It's getting the AAMI Stadium style footprint at Adelaide Oval that has to be fought with everything we have. That scenario can simply NOT be allowed to fly.
Am hearing 300 stood down from AFL.

That's exactly what their original proposal was all about wasn't it? A corporate HQ and training facility that included a full size pool and exercise facilities that would be available to be used by the public at certain times. Federal and State Government funding was assumed as part of the draft business case.
But this is public owned land and it should be the responsibility of the State and Local Government to ensure it is fully available for public use - not handed over in a long term lease to a Victorian owned private corporation for their benefit. The 'for use by the public as well' stuff is a Trojan Horse - a ruse. Don't fall for it. And that long term lease thing is exactly what Olsen did with the ETSA sale btw. It is privatisation by another name.
Alberton Oval is on land that was privately owned by businessman, former Port player and President John Formby who donated it to the local Council for the express use of local sporting organisations -which it is to this very day.
Why doesn't one of the rich ambassadors and supporters of the Adelaide Crows do the same for them and buy and donate some private land for them instead of continually trying to steal public land for their own corporate requirements and getting taxpayers to fund it?
Or, better still, do the community thing and join hands with the West Torrens Council and SANFL and become a co-tenant of the already existing and under-developed Thebarton Oval which is ripe for modernising and would be a far better use of taxpayer funds.
Wonder who wants the poisoned chalice next?

Shaw takes break from football, may not return to top job
North Melbourne coach is taking an extended period away from footballwww.afl.com.au
the AFL article names Voss as a person of interest
Maybe. If John Blakey was signed in case Shaw doesn't recover - he has been in hospital and its been kept quiet, and Blakey was signed just before the rumours started 10 days or so ago then, they might not even do interviews. So we gonna lose Voss now too
