I personally am not all that fussed if the crows want the aquatic centre site. I mean, it's ****ed that it's public land and they'll stop at nothing to get their grubby mitts on it But it's still far enough away from the Oval itself to not bother me that much. It's getting the AAMI Stadium style footprint at Adelaide Oval that has to be fought with everything we have. That scenario can simply NOT be allowed to fly.

You know what, if the Crows can attract some federal funding that results in Adelaide city council getting a brand new city based aquatic centre, then sign me up as a cheerleader for the cause.

That's exactly what their original proposal was all about wasn't it? A corporate HQ and training facility that included a full size pool and exercise facilities that would be available to be used by the public at certain times. Federal and State Government funding was assumed as part of the draft business case.

But this is public owned land and it should be the responsibility of the State and Local Government to ensure it is fully available for public use - not handed over in a long term lease to a Victorian owned private corporation for their benefit. The 'for use by the public as well' stuff is a Trojan Horse - a ruse. Don't fall for it. And that long term lease thing is exactly what Olsen did with the ETSA sale btw. It is privatisation by another name.

Alberton Oval is on land that was privately owned by businessman, former Port player and President John Formby who donated it to the local Council for the express use of local sporting organisations -which it is to this very day.

Why doesn't one of the rich ambassadors and supporters of the Adelaide Crows do the same for them and buy and donate some private land for them instead of continually trying to steal public land for their own corporate requirements and getting taxpayers to fund it?

Or, better still, do the community thing and join hands with the West Torrens Council and SANFL and become a co-tenant of the already existing and under-developed Thebarton Oval which is ripe for modernising and would be a far better use of taxpayer funds.

Yep, it's not like Adelaide will put in proper club rooms for Members (if not at AO). The thought of interacting with their customers horrifies them. Plus the customers aren't the type who'd use them, as the Port faithful do Alberton anyway. As long as not at AO itself it doesn't give them any pre or post game advantage over Port.

What I was meaning was that they can have the aquatic centre with minimal public access if it triggers the people of Adelaide getting a brand new one in the CBD.

I was against their previous proposal as the public access was cut to around 25% of what it is now.

Wonder who wants the poisoned chalice next?

Wonder who wants the poisoned chalice next?

So AFL media have finally revealed Shaw's illness after it was on the Big Footy rumours and scandals board for about 10 days.

Voss will attract attention. If he is smart he will say no until a better opportunity comes along.

Reckon John Blakey signing up at the start of the month as senior assistant was probably the backup plan.

the AFL article names Voss as a person of interest
Quoted from above....

North Melbourne will be respectful and sensitive to every aspect of Shaw's situation, and has relayed to his family and management that he is welcome back at the club when he has recovered.

But the club has privately accepted that if he was to return, it would not be as senior coach.

AFL.com.au understands ex-Brisbane coach and current Port Adelaide senior assistant coach Michael Voss will be a person of interest for the head North position.

So we gonna lose Voss now too
Maybe. If John Blakey was signed in case Shaw doesn't recover - he has been in hospital and its been kept quiet, and Blakey was signed just before the rumours started 10 days or so ago then, they might not even do interviews.
