When I lived in Melbs I thought there were quite a few saints supporters, more than I anticipated anyway.

Saints have always struck me as a quite a few sleeping supporters around, seemed to cash in better than anyone on their 60s era coinciding with the baby boomers.

Strange to think, when they met Hawks in the 71 grand final, both teams had only one flag and a shitload of spoons. Bit of a sliding doors moment perhaps.

It was Alan Aylett Ron Josep and benefactors who started the ball rolling getting Barassi and 3 captains from other clubs after North voted against the 10 year rule then they moved like buggery to make sure they didn't miss out. Ansett didn't supply those early brown paper bags in 1973-75 years.

But once the VFL stole Aylett and made him prez, then Ansett's $$$ kicked in to make sure they won more than just the one flag and stayed at the top of the tree for a decade all up.

I was there for there first GF win when they had Barassi coaching and had bought in guys like Wade,Blight,Cable,Rantall,Davis for the AFL’s first buy a premiership.
PS got a ticket off a scalper for the massive sum of $8.

3/4 time score Sydney 8.6 to Brisbane 4.7.
Brisbane have been close to Sydney at times but Sydney have had the ability to get a couple of goals when they need to. Like most good sides, Sydney do their damage late. In the first half of the quarter scores are Sydney 3.4 to Brisbane 2.5 but in the second half of the quarter scores are Sydney 5.2 to Brisbane 2.2. Not much but enough to keep the Lions at arms length.

Sounds funny but I'm actually happy we dont have to play Brisbane again this year. A trip to the gabba doesnt look like such an easy task.

Big bickies in those days I think the general admission ticket I got for 8 was about 4 bucks to buy. Was a kid in those days on my first trip on the overland to Melbourne and came back the same night.

Tipped Sydney by 21, when I came home from Alberton and the game was only a quarter old I thought what was I thinking? Looks like they will be close to that now.

Just as Brisbane could have caused an upset Charlie Cameron, who has done well for them this season has gone missing. He has only had 9 disposals and 1 tackle and has had 83% game time.
