I’m with you mate. These guys work damn hard and maybe it’s too hard and there is too much information / instruction.

In the first 10 mins on Sunday we looked to have some real zest and purpose about our movement. Skills let us down and players went into safe mode.

Yep. Physically and mentally cooked is more like it.

I believe Dixon's being genuine in his comments from his interview.

“We’re frustrated as a team, the coaches are as well and our skills have let us down massively in the last three or four weeks and we’ve got to sort that out because it’s coming into crunch time.”

Dixon said his team was trying to be the best it could and was working hard to improve.

“We’re out there trying to play our style and it’s breaking down in some areas but we’re working tirelessly to try and get that back and sort that out,” he said.

“No one goes out there to be bad or to not try.

“We want to be better for (the fans) because they show up and they’re unreal and they’re so loud at our home games, and even our away games we get a lot of numbers there and I thank them for that.

It's breaking down in one area, Charlie - contested possession. Which means the team as a collective aren't running hard enough to create a contest. Couldn't care less about skills. I care about what is happening when those skills fail. What are you doing to get the ball back quickly at that moment? Where is the pressure?

Don't sit on your heels waiting for a perfect pass, Charlie. Be prepared for the pass to go astray. Expect it. Relish it as an opportunity to let the opposition know that every time they have the ball, they will be under pressure.

Focus on that, and I promise that the skills will come back.

Don't be better for the fans, Charlie. Be better for yourself. Because when push comes to shove and it's time to dig deep, you won't be thinking 'Shit, I better run hard here for the fans'.

If you're relying on the emotion of the crowd to make you, it will also destroy you.

You can be a member without a season ticket... My several day old was last year lol

And if someone lives overseas or something, and gives the club money without getting any real benefit why shouldn't they be held in high regard?
You don't have to have a season ticket to be counted as a member by the AFL Membership Audit, and never have, but you do need to have access to at least one match. If your several day old had game access include as part of their baby membership package then they are counted as a member.

Free digital "memberships" are not counted.

I dont agree with that when interstate/overseas members are paying up just to support the club. Why should they take up a seat that they won't use that the club could sell?

Anything free is irrelevant obviously

In AFL we confuse season passes with memberships for some reason. I am not sure how it is for other sports in Australia but in many places overseas they are two different concepts.

I'm amazed that there hasn't been a more organised response against these changes. Where is the AFL Fans Association on this? It just blows me away the scale of change being proposed to an old game like ours off the back of tv networks and old players / journalists with conflicts of interest telling us the game isn't what it used to be. Add to that their never having been tested in any league anywhere. Unintended consequences? Guess we will roll out further rules to correct those down the track.

I have actually got to a point where for the first time ever I'm considering raising a petition. Reluctantly because I usually prefer to sit back and have someone else do the hard work! Am I misreading the public sentiment and most fans are ok with the changes?

Nope.

"to be counted as a member an individual must have a name, contact details, have contributed $50 to the club and received a membership pack. The official counts also include multiple memberships held by an individual. Pet memberships are not counted but the AFL confirmed babies and toddlers are included."

That's not official AFL though - you need to have access to minimum 3 games to count in the official member count.

To be counted as a club member, according to the AFL, you need to supply name & contact details, have a minimum spend of $50 and receive a membership pack.

Game access isn't required.

New AFL rules to be trialed this year between clubs that cannot make the 8.

This has confirmed what so many say. Gil is so far out of his depth it isn't funny. Under his mighty reign we have been subjected to:

Rules:

- Third man up rule
- Nominating ruckmen
- The new MRP, no the new new MRP, no now the MRO
- Protected zone
- Deliberate out of bounds rule changing

Competition:

- AFLW (was definitely required, however was half baked to get out in a hurry)
- MCG Grand Final for 40 years
- Recruiting zones that mostly benefit VIC clubs
- Canvassing other clubs on critical decisions (2016 top up player stuff up)
- Coffee dates to discuss umpiring with Clarko

That is incorrect. The criteria is 1] Pay up at least $50, 2] Supply contact details 3] Receive a member pack

So digital members are included

Crows kissed on the dick with Melbourne’s injuries. Oliver now with a quad and Hogan didn’t train.

I would assume the Club ensures that all of its membership packages are eligible for the overall count. My interstate membership gives me one away game ticket and two GA games at AO.

However our junior memberships may not count if the rule is $50 minimum. From memory I think my grandchildrens' pirateers memberships were $40 each.
