Hutchy's tenticles continue to grow! Announcement just released on the ASX ...

CROCMEDIA ACQUIRES AFL PUBLICATIONS BUSINESS

Crocmedia Pty Ltd (Crocmedia) a wholly-owned subsidiary of ASX listed Pacific Star Network Limited (Company), is pleased to announce it has just signed an agreement with the Australian Football League (AFL) to acquire the AFL Publications business (AFL Record). The Company will acquire all assets and liabilities required to continue to operate the AFL Record, including licencing of AFL trademarks.
Crocmedia will produce all weekly match-day magazine content, including the AFL Record, AFLW publications, the AFL Season Guide, JLT Community Series, AFLX, International Rules Series, and the AFL Finals and Toyota AFL Grand Final editions.
The AFL Record has been the official match program for more than 100 years. Since Essendon won the premiership in the AFL Record’s inaugural year of 1912, the AFL Record has continued to inform and entertain fans from generation to generation.

Edit... Second word changed after predictive txt error discerned ;)

So does this mean Hutchinson's anti Port sentiments will now carry over to The Record? Not that it will worry me as I never buy the Victorian biased crap. In this digital age one can simply pull out the mobile and get all the info one needs.

Hutchinson is fast becoming Murdoch's biggest media rival in the sporting world. I suppose that makes Crocmedia a target for Rupert ?

Too bad West Coast are building their new mega-base on the opposite side of town - they might have been able to 'help out' their fellow raptors...

One of the darkest times in West Perth’s 127-year history

West Perth have gone into administration as they attempt to deal with debts that have blown out to more than $600,000.

But as WA’s oldest football club battles to avoid collapse, the WA Football Commission has provided a $250,000 loan that will keep the Falcons afloat for the rest of the season.

The loan will be quarantined to pay players and staff rather than reduce the debt that president Scott Ballem said was crippling the club.

“It will be business as usual and this is simply a mechanism for our salvation and future prosperity,” Ballem said.

This may be a silly question, but why are the AFL proposing 6-6-6 starting positions at a centre bounce, when the centre bounce is when an AFL game is already at its least congested?

THis will have no impact at all on a rolling maul, deep in a forward pocket, involving 32 players and a seagull.

No loose man in defence to intercept the fast kick out of the centre square clearance (take note for fantasy purposes), but this can be quickly rectified after the ball is bounced.

how many would just start one of your wingers on the defensive 50 arc and get into position ASAP and then do the same with a allocated forward 6 player but he turns into the wingman

I wondered this, just make the square (which was designed for this) bigger.

Which has about as much to do with the perceived congestion problem as a cucumber.

Yeah you are right. The wingman will turn into the loose in defence, most likely.

For a second I had my hopes up that Rory Laird would become obsolete.

Well 7 defenders against 6 forwards is actually what I would call defensive congestion, but I do not think congestion is the only thing that the rule changes are trying to address. More one on one contests was another, rather than all the zone and web bs.

What about Sturt? How many times where they supposed to go under. But got a smart woman to run the place, reconnect with the local community, become relevant to an area that was gentrified and are now a power house. Didnt they win the A grade, reserves and U/18 in 2017?
There was an article on ^ a few months back in the Eastern Courier. She was extolling how frugal and grassroots they had become
blah blah but nowhere in the piece did it mention where they got money from. I wrote a letter to the editor questioning whether
it was nearly all from the sanfl - AO - us in part. I Respectfully suggested that she was deliberately ignoring that Sturt while they'd
done better since the 2000 era would not have been where they are without the AFL and it's expertise (coach/players)and money.

You'd be shocked to know my letter wasn't published.
My bold is to stress there was no sarcasm, anger or even a suggestion of being a smartarse.
I even complimented the club for their crowd numbers and social club efforts (I think? they sold the BarZaar on Unley Rd).
Anyway it wasn't printed the next issue but tellingly backslapping ones were.

It might permit extra goals which means more ad breaks. This is the sole purpose.

The cucumber strategy might work against Geelong...

De Goey out for a few weeks with a leg stress issue.
That’s their best forward gone. Injuries might finally reach its tipping point for the Pies, especially with their tough run ahead. Good for us in our tiny top 4 hope.

Hutchinson is certainly not anti-Port - Kane is one of his biggest rising stars for a reason.

Was thinking the same. We have a man on the inside there. Everything’s coming up Roses for Kano.

Where do you get Hutchy being anti-Port from? he's always been a rare source of balance

I assume the change will have to involve penalising teams that don't reset quick enough after a goal (30 seconds to match ad breaks probably). So it's assumed if forwards are always in defense and having to run back, by later in the game they'll be stuffed and not able to do that (or play that well in general). Especially if this is combined with reduced interchanges, it should force coaches to leave forwards, if not in the forward 50, instructed not to flood defenses as much.

At least that's the aim. We'll see how it goes in practise. I think it will make the lumbering talls even more out of place.
