After taking one sip from their FUIC, they take a breath and in that very same breath they deny us our history while attempting to claim all of the historic fruits of the state they preside in which they have no right to claim.

I listened to Fagan's introductory speech, and I'd be worried if I was a Crows fan. Sounded exactly like Trigg - talking about 'the business' and 'the football side' 'outcomes' and all that stupid focus group garbage that the Adelaide board would lap up. The fact that he's never played professional sport at any level but is a career sports administrator tells you what the AFC believes is most important - and it isn't fan engagement with their CEO and building a club, but ticket sales, corporate sponsorship and 'best practice' garbage that sounds good in a powerpoint presentation.

Make no mistake - they went and got someone outside of the AFL because no one inside the AFL would allow the board to dictate to the CEO what should and shouldn't be done in a football sense - which is the most important role the CEO of a footy club undertakes. He's always going to be going to guys like Ricciuto and the rest of the board for advice on that, so really, he's just a puppet with a decent CV who gets trotted out to the media and parrots whatever the AFC board wants him to say. Like I always knew he was going to be.

The funniest thing is the Adelaide fans think it's going to be a new beginning. Wait until they realize the truth that Fagan NEEDS the old boys network around because he doesn't have a network of his own.

Of course, much like the posturing in the Port v Hawthorn preview thread on the main board, we won't know anything until it all plays out. Wishful thinking isn't analysis. I reckon people need to keep their powder dry on this one until there is actually something to stir about.
