Surely tonight is enough motivation for port,

Port play like they did against them in round 18 and they would win tonight.

Especially if Elliot kicks for goal like tonight and not like RD 18.

The only reason why the won in Rd 18 was in last qtr they kicked 6.3 (inc 2 rushed behind) vs 3.2, including 3 goals from set shots on the boundary line and that great left foot snap by Sidebottom. Pretty sure they kicked 5.0 from set shots in the last quarter.

We get over Brisbane this week and we are a big chance to go all the way.

Ok, let's look at the positives.

1. Melb looked like the better team, just couldn't score. So Collingwood should be beatable with a territory game style.
2. If we could find a way to beat Brisbane, we'd be likely to face Carlton or Melbourne at home in a prelim, both are infinitely more beatable than Collingwood.


Negatives
1. We're probably going to have to play Collingwood at the G in a prelim to make the GF. We wont stand up to that heat.
2. Collingwood had an ordinary night and blew out the cobwebs but still got the job done with class, they are unlikely to play that bad the whole way through.

As I said before the game tonight was the best time to play Collingwood and Melbourne fkd it up.

I don't think Collingwood are that good, haven't all year, but I don't trust Port or Brisbane to beat them either way. Tonight might have been the GF.

That's a big ask though. It'd probably need 4.1 from Finlayson instead of his more common 1.4.

Yes, because no one has ever beaten Collingwood in a final at the G.

Not this side no. Nick Daicos makes them a 4-5 goal better side. They absorbed a lot of pressure tonight , didn't give Melbourne space at all inside 50 and defensively look better than anyone.

Collingwood’s biggest asset in the finals will be the crowd. They aren’t currently playing premiership footy. Whoever plays them need to get a good start and take the crowd out of the equation. Having said that they’re still gettable during games if you persevere.

We'd get up 6.1 to 1.2 then we'd have the next 3-4 shots to bury the game and Marshall, Finlayson and Boak will go and miss sitters as they do. They'd get the next 2-3, keep themselves in it, then with the momentum of an avalanche roll over us with the late comeback.

The real risk is even if you're up, like we choked at AO, with the momentum of their comebacks, and with 90k going mental, we'll collapse under that. We'd almost be better off like Melbourne, coming from behind and being the chaser till the end, not the leader.
