I think this is the correct outcome. AFL showing some mettle for once following their own rules, and Crows will continue to say the quiet part out loud for all and sundry to hear for the near future.

I hope Rankine only gets a 3-week suspension. It will spice up the finals series. He broke an AFL rule and needs to be punished. All the shite he has had to put up with growing up as an indigenous person, he deserves a break. AFL is such a laughing stock organisation. You can call someone a ferrit on the field and get suspended, but calling someone a *unt gets waived through.
I'm all for getting rid of racist abuse by players and using derogatory homophobic slurs by players, but the suspensions are so out of whack.
Any racist remark against an indigenous person should start at 6 weeks. Second strike = 12 weeks.
Any homophobic remark against a player should start at two weeks and double if the idiot does it again.
As for Collingwood and the official overhearing the players ... that's bullshite.
