Review Positives and Negatives vs GWS

Beat Cameron in all contests bar the one with the shove in the back.
It could be said that a couple of the collisions were more McGovern's fault than his.
I agree, he and Gov weren't on the same page but it felt like Gov was responsible for some of the worse collisions they had.

It is arguable that Barrass was better in the qualifying final than what he was in the grand final.
I mean he didn't have the intercept possessions but he kept Cox to 5 disposals and no goals.
His qualifying final set the template for how to man Cox in the air. In the grand final he had him beat save for some Collingwood entries that fell short, they were undefendable. If they'd been up in the air then Barrass would have disrupted it.

Was hard to see any negatives tonight. Ryan was well held but still worked hard to contribute.

Good spot, I really liked his game.

Some days as a small forward the opportunities just aren't there, even thougg he was well held it was really pleasing to see him work hard to create for his teammates.

Great post Dylan82. Just on Redden, I wouldn't worry too much about his output, our team is so efficient going forward that we're less likely to have 3 mids all getting close to 30 touches. Interestingly he had 9 touches in the second quarter to really kickstart the team. He put his head over the ball last week when not many would but his disposal was rubbish, this week he took a backwards(ish) seat and used the ball much better. He's like a role player that's too good to be a role player but I think he'll have another really good season.

Agreed that Yeo needs to get the free kicks against out of his game, he did the same thing with the tag in the grand final but he does go in hard defensively when it's not working offensively. Much like the grand final he stood up when it was his moment, that left foot snap was great. He'll have a break out game soon when Shuey or Sheed cop a heavy tag instead, it's a credit to him to be rated so highly by opposition coaches due to his explosive game changing abilities.

Everything has been mentioned repeatedly especially regarding the kids.

I am just so impressed at most of our kickouts, especially Jetta's more daring ones up the spine. It isn't possible without our structure to create the space and the effort that our players make leading hard into it.

They know they can trust Hurn and Jetta to hit a 65m chisel onto their tit. Unbelievable advantage this new rule gives us to be able to take the ball from a behind kick in the the centre circle in seconds.

Completely disagree

Positives
+ our ARROGANT flag unfurling!
+ OALLEN
+ Duggo's efforts after his knee injury
+ Perch
+ Smith's debut
+ Kennedy back
+ Selection headaches for next week

- Pav - get him off broadcasting Eagles' matches, he can't hide his distain for us

Agreed. We seem to be the only club thus far that is aggressively taking advantage of the changes to kick-ins.

Some other random thoughts:

- Really bloody liked the work of Duggan. He just goes about his business every week now. Around the time we drafted him with a view of making him a midfielder, we had about 14 back flankers on the books. Who knew he'd be our guy down there?

- Oscar, oh beautiful Oscar.

- Really enjoyed the even spread of goalkickers. It's a good part of an (eventual) life without JK indoctrination, and it makes us a threat here and now.

- Sheed was sublime. Neo. He is Neo.

- Shuey, just rock solid.

- Slow start was a big concern but the boys conditioning looked far, far better than last week.

- Mark Clutchings does another job. If you were to do an All Australian Most Underrated Players for 2018/2019, he'd be in the 22 by a furlong.

- McGovern, JK, even Hurn all looked like the cobwebs are slowly coming off.

- At the end of last year (Up the Coasters) I was worried that a few of the younger lads would have too much of a premiership hangover. Three I was most worried about were: Lycett, Venables and Barrass. I feel confident that I'm wrong about all three (I miss you Scotty, you beef-headed lumberback campaigner).

- Anyone else a little worried about Shep? He's still winding up I suppose.
Shep is fine he will get better, he got better as the game went on. He is comfortably in the best 22

- Smith was okay. Nothing wrong with his performance but he didn't put his hand up to supplant any of the regulars in the team. Might be his only change to stake a claim for a while, giving the impending inclusions of Gaff, Cripps and Rioli.
Now when all those three are available the Selectors will have a headache as to which players get dropped!

We can take out Smith & Venables now for Gaff & Cripps.. What if Petch has well n truely got his spot for when Rioli is ready? The talk is getting Rioli more into the middle anyway.
Thats where Masten is in trouble.

You wont take Ryan or Cripps out.
Yep agreed Gaff and Cripps are guns Gaff is an A grade player and Cripps is a jet, therefore they are in. Vennebles needs to lift his work rate

Positives:

Shuey and Sheed are all class. Sheed doesn't want to be dropped again

Jetta's kick ins are a thing of beauty. Much prefer that than Hurns kicks to the right pocket.

Hickey proved he can handle it. Atrocious last week but showed he belongs.

JK back. Full of rust but love seeing him out there. Also loved seeing Lecca there to carry him off.

Our entire backline. A complete unit.

Oscar Allen, looks to have the goods.

Negatives:

Masten was trashy again.

Slow starts.

We seem vulnerable to a quick chain of handballs from stoppages. Quite concerning .

Venables, does he have what it takes? A dozen touches and no scoreboard presence isn't enough.

Mixed:

Ryan seems hard to read, on passage he looks lazy and disinterested next passage he is lighting the world on fire.
Sheed has the ball on a string he is in that good form

This information is new to me. Thanks.
