What did you like about his coaching today particularly? Interested to hear your thoughts.
Not really a massive believer in the "match day coach".

The way we shift defensive zones wide at stages and then cut directly inboard into a small space developed because of it, we then hit those holes hard and fast. Was looking out for it more after the last two weeks. Smart football.

overall hard to watch.

Buuuut in the end, we were severely undermanned, on a 6v8 day break, and we almost went to Melbourne and beat the 7th team. Had a certain decision gone our way at the end we who knows what may have happened.

need more players across half forward line who can chip in few mins midfield. our prime movers priddis, shuey and….well thats it, don't get enough of a breather from other players whilst essendon had players who can shift burden of heppell, watson and the like. we got run over as a result.

loving that gov in back line has released h urn further up the ground. '

also, kennedy is dropping way too many easy marks for a FF. he has been doing it all season. focus more son!
Priddis arguably had a 'breather' all game though. The team got out to a very respectable 6 goal lead with him doing sweet **** all.

If there ever was a time for him to switch on, it was the 3rd and 4th quarters when they challenged us and eventually took over. He lifted considerably in the last quarter and i do praise him for holding onto the ball and then releasing an intelligent handball to schofield in the dying minutes which should have ended up in a goal, but really what other impact did he have on the game? He's supposed to be this elite mid/brownlow smoky and everything, this was the biggest game of the year, so when exactly did he take up some of the slack from Shuey and Gaff? He had no burden today, and Gaff was tagged FFS.

Yep.

Disastrous fail on the biggest game of the year.

Really disappointing how sloppy he was with every possession today.

+Shown we can be a very good side when we use the corridor and take on the game.

-Priddis, Giving up a 6 goal lead in a matter of minutes. That umpiring decision.

Postives

First half pressure and play was great
Learnt that the ABC radio commentary team have a WCE bias

Negatives
Went to tall again and it showed. When Butler got injured we couldn't get Cox off and that killed us IMO
Second half was like every game prior to our past two weeks. We weren't playing well, no pressure, no run.
Fox Footy commentators (Was Eddie there purely to piss on us after we dismantled his beloved team last week?)
Sheeds hesitant attempt at selling the footy everytime he got it pissed me the **** off

Both halves of West Coast were on display. Todays game really did sum up our season. When we play well and click as a team we are a mighty capable unit. However when the wheels fall off they REALLY fall off.

Plenty for Simmo and the boys to work on going into 2015.

Sheed again impressed me in parts
Mackenzie absolute beast
Cripps did some good things
I feel like we could improve a lot next year quite suddenly if that makes sense.
I really do have faith in Simpson
Shuey was good

-
Our run, we have just run out of legs all year, I know we have injuries and are playing 3 rucks but we need more runners.
Umpires Hate Darling, and us when we are in a close game.
Heppell killed us in the second half, don't know what happened to the tag?
The gov should have been moved forward, we don't need 4 key defenders.
NN was pretty crap, he's had an inconsistent and at times poor year.
We have only 2 on ballers in our side atm in Pridda and Shuey, need somebody to step up next year, hopefully Selwood, Yeo and Sheed can all step up that void next year.

Negative - we stuffed up our chances of making the 8
- by winning recent games and no doubt winning the next two we will get a crap draft pick

Positive - I'm not throwing anything at the moment
I'm so sick of this crap. Its not like we lost out on a priority pick, we might slip down from pick 7 to pick 9, seriously it will probably make very little difference to who we would have picked up. FFS, its as if were not running for top 4 we should just tank until we have enough 1st round draft picks to guarantee well be good enough (see carlton & Melbourne)

the lack of leaders standing up to halt the momentum
This is our first, last, and biggest problem. As good as Priddis is (or isn't, whatever, I don't care), he's not inspirational. We just don't have any mids that can issue that "do as I do, and come follow me" type of multi-effort inspirational play. Partly that's the age profile of our list (after Priddis, our next most experienced mid is Rosa then a big gap back to Wellingham - and he couldn't even get a game when he was fit), and partly the quality of the players. Fix this, and we go a long way to returning to the pointy end of the ladder.

Something that Cox and Kerr were very good at during our good run 2011-2012. We don't really have many "clutch" players currently, if opposition teams get a run on we are quick to go into our shell and get nervous.

Don't worry priddis wasn't tagged around the ground but he was at stoppages soon as he got near the ball 3 Essendon player's jumped on him, Essedon knew the need to negate priddis at the stoppages

Simpson was out coached after half time.
It's Easy to say that but the Eagle's run out of steam, 6 day break, flying from perth, playing 3 ruckmen , butler's injury didn't help couldn't sub off a tall, As simpson said a few player's were signed a task and couldn't deliver, If your team is out on it's feet it's pretty hard to do anything as a coach !

I wasn't happy with Simpson's PC at all. He raised excuses like the 6-day break, Butler's injury and also divorced himself from the player group. He's the coach. He should have recognised the risk of not bringing in fresh legs and he didn't. We had options in Colledge and Maginnes. He chose not to inject youth and run and he needs to accept that, not look for excuses and blame the players.

+ 1st half
+ McGovern showed a lot again. Great inclusion in the back line
+ Hurn's first half was fantastic (next captain)

- Second half, especially those 6 minutes
- Hurn didn't step up at the end of Q3 or in Q4 (captain needed to take the game by the scruff of the neck)
- Tunbridge doesn't know what he's doing. Great aggression and work rate, but just doing the wrong things. Very, very raw. Unlikely to become the big bodied, pacey midfielder we need (c'mon Yeo 2015)
- whoever was tagging heppell in Q4??

I looked at it this way though EMGEE_6, he was trying something, he appeared, to me, to be trying to lift. Teenager against men and he was trying. I thought it was the most positive signs I have seen from Sheed yet, in that he was trying to win.

We picked and played our best 22. Maginness is still off from debuting and Colledge is coming back from an ankle injury and doesn't have the runs on the board to walk right in.

Butler going down stifled our run from the backline.

In the second half none of our tall forwards looked like marking a ball. We needed to switch McGovern up forward a lot earlier.
