Ir reckon it's going to be a year of highs and lows for the Fremantle Football club and we need to cling to the positive things we see from our team.

A very dissapointing loss but i'm sure there are some shining lights in there.

Come on...have a go. You know you want to.

  • Tarrant - Was pretty good in defence i must admit. Looked quite comfy back there and certainly annoyed the hell out Brad J.
  • Suban - Not an excellent debut by any means, but i loved his goal and If i'm not mistaken, I may have seen the young man plant a very enthusiastic 'kiss' on his purple jumper :thumbsu:
  • Kepler - He will be our Mr Fixit this year
  • WELCOME BACK HASE!!! Great to see him have a solid comeback
  • No reports or injuries (fingers cross)
  • It's only round one, we finished third last in 08 and the doggies finished 3rd - puts some things into perspective

Lets hope Hayden is back next week.

  • Peake played really well tonight.
  • We got enough i50's and Shots on goal to get a winning score.
  • Atleast we are not on the bottom (richmond are)

Shit this is difficult, ummm, Peake, Tarrant, Suban, that's pretty much it.

Tazz playing the lights out down back - and showing controlled agression, standing up to that little sook Brad Johnston without giving away any stupid frees.

Holding Johnston goal-less.

Hase back and playing well in the centre in patches. Now maybe try him in a forward pocket too?

Palmer continuing to develop as a leader.

Ibbo, Suban and Hill playing good games for kids, especially considering the high quality players they were matched up on, and the lack of support from the established players.

Losing Rog, having a poorly balanced, slow side selected, being rick-rolled by the Umpires all night, and still being ale to be in there within 2 goals (10 points) during the third quarter.

Having more inside 50s than the Bullies (if the stats on the web are right).

Biggest positive of all - knowing that a performance like this puts more pressure on the selection committee to start playing even more kids.

Hayden, Solomon, Mayne, Headland and Ballantyne to come in.

Pearce and de Boer returned through the WAFL reserves on the weekend and both found plenty of the ball. (Foster played his first match in the ressies too but he's probably a bit further away.)

From an outsider's perspective (with no bias as to who won the game) I dont think the scoreboard truly reflected the nature of the game.

Freo certainly could get the hardball or contested possesion, but the execution was substandard. There was a lot of errant handballs and kicks upfield where you had the run into the forward line and the Doggies killed you on the rebound. They are a top side.

Good game from Tarrant, Palmer was prolific (though stuffed up a few handballs), Hill and Suban looked very good for first gamers and I was most impressed with Haselby's return after the injury.

Definately not doom and gloom, I can see Freo knocking off more highly fancied opponents.

Roger Hayden is our teams Gilbee/Shaw/Malceski type of player.

Last night showed how much we need him in our team across half back

Agree, I think we need another smaller defender as well as hayden - probably Broughton, Suban or Brock. There's a bit of sameness about Dodd/Head/Duffield/Thornton/Drum in our backline.

Hase should be better for the run and most likelt releivede to come through his first match after his knee reco...
Hopefully the boys will be very motivated to chalk up the first season win against the Bombers....

What about Duffield.... He was by far our cleanest player. His run from half back was prolific and he never stopped trying. Don't know why he hasnt got much of a mention....

I think the umpires murdered us so hopefully that won't happen next week... The biggest killer for us was the skills and chase. The skills might improve on a week to week basis, as might the chase.

Haha... we're playing Essendon next week. Traditionally we always get r*ped the hardest by the umpires when we're playing Essendon and Richmond.

It's gotta be the sash. It must remind them of the Miss Universe contestants they fantasized over as teenagers

Not that unhappy after watching the replay. We butchered shots on goal all over the shop in the 3rd but still got within 16. They were gifted a goal at the end of the Q to go back up by 22. Haze takes his chance in the last and were are back within 16 with 20 to play. Could have been a lot closer. All those junk time goals made it seem way worse.
Need to settle Pav back in front of goal, keep Groves and Elvis in the backline with their new best friend Chris, and Rodger directing traffic. Add Solly, Des & Mayne and we aren't too far off.

The more I think about it the more I am convinced he is one of, if not the most important player for us.

Another positive was Schammer's better disposal - up to 86 % efficiency. He has improved a lot in that area since early 2006 when he was completely butchering the ball out of defence, and a lot of people lost a lot of hair watching him play.

Also on efficiency, it was nice to see 100% for Hilly, though he only had 8 possesions, and 7 of them were hand-balls.

Another couple from me -

Loved the 'shepherd' from Sandi and Johnson....that WAS a classic. Heard the crowd cheering on the telly and when they played it again, I saw Johnson get smashed. Cracked me up it did!!

Looks like i'm finally (fingers crossed that no-one else bids on it) getting my Purple Haze Guernsey!!! Even if I do have to pay more than usual it's for a good cause!
