Zac Dawson. Great game.
Chrichton and Neale. Ran hard, showing some promise.
Ballantyne got a bit if Mojo back.
Pav was great.

McPharlin did well.
De Boer was the hard clean handed midfielder we've been looking for.

The stats were fairly even. We won more ball than them. Made a change from last week

I think Neale has to find something more, 15 possession isnt really enough. I know it is his first year, but I think he should be pushing up toward 20.

Not saying he played bad, but I wouldnt have him in the best players. Mundy picked up 18 possessions and used them well and people think he should be dropped.

Mayne played a good game with his two goals, and I thought barlow was heading back to his best, as he is getting forward and kicking goals.

when u guys decide to take the game on ur so dangerous, dont know why u dont do it more often.

I can only imagine how good u guys would be with an attacking minded coach such as Sando.

I was happy to stay to the end, as they gave it a crack tonight. Disappointing to not come away with the 4 points after hitting the lead from 36 down, but the signs for a solid performance against a top outfit gives me some hope.

Mayne did some really courageous things which really helped turn the game. Sandi's efforts to get the ball, and his efforts in the ruck and contest were alot better.

The use of outside players, and a simple man on man with extra man in defence generated good results compared with the zone which we are not good enough to pull off IMO.

I walk away pleased with an honorable loss, compared with a deplorable loss.

Agree with all of the above and thought that Johnson in general was good again. Also thought that Mayne, whilst only kicking 2 goals played his best game for us in terms of hitting contests and creating opportunities for our runners - full blooded effort the entire game.

Barlow played some good footy ahead of ball, really reads the play 2 seconds before anyone else. Got himself in position for the quick scrappy kick forward, kicked 2 goals himself. Disposal still not up to scratch but his best game for the year.

Thought we held a better structure today. More players forward of the ball allowed us to kick through the corridor with some purpose.

Our young midfielders looked the part when given a chance, lead by DeBoer and Hill we really had some purpose in there. Clancy Pearce was back to his hard running best. I really think it was a mistake to play him last week, a lot of good data showing concussion side effects last 10 days.

Matt DeBoer all australian centre man at under 18 level. Today showed us why, his hands in close are exceptional. Can really develop into a Matt Priddis, Scott Thompson clone and win us the ball in tight.

Jack Anthony would be great-if we ever wanted to produce those wobble head dolls or if we needed a mobile white board is forhead would be fantastic.

Biggest positive was Lyon rejigging the game plan to allow us to attack more.

Overdue and immediately effective. Using the plan we had last week, we would never have gotten back into the game. This is the plan to build on in my view

best thread of the night.people who see the positives. i thought everything that was asked for , and rightly so, was answered today, from both players and coach. adelaide is a very good unit that would have been pissed at loosing at home last week and for freo to be as competitive to the brink of a victory, no matter the score line difference but in all that was thrown at their,coach-skills-desire and personale i thought the game was a great indication of what we can do. having said that i hope that the coaching staff and players get the same positives as we are and really work on it to get a team that is settled and confident in what they are doing

It was a huge improvement from last week in effort and watchability.

Hill showed courage and attack that I haven't seen from him before. Can we see it every week please.

Crowley - who I have bagged the living shit out of for years continues to perform - Unfortunately Scott Thompson was my dream team captain this week!

With Melbourne beating Essendon and Port destroying Carlton it shows that anything is possible this year.

Yes all the above, happy with the effort and the style we played.
Neale is going to be a player, so quick and clean with his possessions.
DeBoer made a difference around the clearances.
Barlow building, Balla found something in the second half.
Hill was great. Really willed himself onto the contest, that's what's been missing from him for a while. The willingness to hunt the ball and take the game on. Considering he had Van Berlo tagging him it was a superb effort.
Chrichton showed something. Looks good when he runs in a straight line, his ball handling wasn't particularly clean and his kicking so so but his hands are good.
Pearce linked up well but he burned it a couple of times.

I said in the match day thread that win or lose I just wanted to see enough to feel like Freo could improve and I got that. I'll be more positive next week because to be honest I went to today's game in a less stellar mood than I usually manage for a day at the footy.

Liked our set up today, we looked like we could kick goals, our run and skills may have hurt us but there were more options today even if they weren't always great and we didn't always hit them. We also kicked more goals than points, still missed some we should have kicked but don't feel like our accuracy in front of goal cost us today, although I also thought Adelaide's goal kicking was excellent.

Other than that agree with everyone else.

Dawson, one of his best, all the good things he usually does without a brain fade.
Deboer, stays in the mids from now on.
Ballantyne seemed to be more forward and looked better (though he should never be the only guy going for a defensive mark/spoil)
Barlow, improved again.
Crozier, lots of promise, hope he stays the sub for Richmond.
Hill was ok, some good runs.
There was also a surprising lack of the mark and quick handball to the opposition.

At least next week I'm hoping Freo maintain some things and improve others, which is better then feeling like nothing is going right.

The gorgeous short haired Freo girl that I think is just the most awesomely wonderful young superstar finally showed up at my local.

Our team played like shite, but by christ I am happy, because I at least got to slightly drool over the most gorgeous Freo fan ever. Sadly I am far too old to ever be of interest to her...

But she did at least kick me when we were briefly in front...

Paul Duffield sucks sweaty balls bigtime. Wimpy shit needs to learn to play football.

Tony Shaw needs to come out to the carpark to be taught a lesson...

I haven't seen the game, I had to work. What was Barlow's kicking like this week Eshed?

Hilly from reports was a lot more desperate huh?

PS: I think we're gunna see another debutant (sherro) next week, that's a positive in my book.

Pics or it didn't happen

Mundy's first quarter was exceptional, if he can sustain that for a full game like last year look out.

Crowley continues to do the big jobs.

Hills last half was dominant, just kept breaking the lines and at one stage during a stoppage there were two crows hanging off him.

You sir, are a muppet.

Neale is in his debut year, and played his 6th game today. Mundy played his 150th and is one of our best mids. Neale spent far less time on the ground, and certainly less time in the middle. The comparison you make is ridiculously laughable, and this is a positive thread remember?

Loved Neale's game and thought Crichton showed enough to get another go. Yeah he fluffed a few possesions but he was hard at it for the whole game.

One of Crowleys best games this year, Thompson was kept to 18 and Creepy got almost as many with a couple of goals.

McPharlin and Dawson continue to dominate, well up until I left to go to a Chocolate Degustation (Big mistake!).

Hope de Boer stays in the middle, great job today. We need his hardness at the ball ala Chuck Norris style.

Our skills let us down a bit but at least they had a crack and appeared to actually execute the game plan. We lost, but were not disgraced.

Streamed the game and thought you guys gave it a good go. I think some of the positives include return to form from many of the group, importantly Barlow, Sandi and Pavlich. Had a lot more run this week. I know its a simplistic view by could have been a different result without Rory Sloane for Adelaide. Not sure who was on him (commentators seemed to suggest Clancee was at times) but he is a good player thats for sure.

Loved Crowleys job on Scott Thompson, he has been good this year and really underrated. Not that many midfielders let alone the taggers that kick the goals he does.

Agree with above. I didn't watch all of the game and was also wondering who was on Sloane and dangerfield. No point stopping one mid and have 2 other players kill us

As great as players like Matt De Boer and Matt Priddis are, you cant have 22 of him them your side, you need some polish at times. He has strengths and weaknesses, just like any player.

I think if you want to sink the boot in there are probably other blokes ahead of Duff today. Just my opinion.
