If he was Dawson he'd have been reported, not that Dawson made contact anyway.

I love the wording from the AFL.

"It was the view of the panel that Dawson used an open hand in his action and that the contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence."

They don't want to say that he didn't connect as this would point out the mistake the umpired made paying the free kick.

Pretty surprised nobody got weeks. I expected one to be gone. Not necessarily by reason but by expecting some bad luck for us...

The contact did not exist = below a reportable offence
Worded perfectly!

With his theatrics he may as well have just dobbed Mayne in, shit person.

He lost the plot on the weekend with his carry on. Mayne should challenge and risk the week, just so we can put the sook on the stand at the tribunal! (hmm, maybe not)

All as it should be really, tough hard contested final. Selwood was more liberal with his fists (Suban and Fyfe) than Enright was IMO but as long as no-one is seriously done over it should all be play on - and play on is what all the Freo players will be doing thankyou MRP.

Great news. Johnson tried his best to get Mayne suspended.

Yep he was pulling his jumper up well after it happened, the guy is genuinely a sht bloke on the field. People think Crowley and Ballas are dirty but whilst they are antagonistic and push the limits they don't rat on other players, yet "Stevie is such a great bloke, we all love Stevie".

Didnt expect any to get suspended in a fair system.

With it being a freo player involved and Johnson's carrying on and media attention, i thought Mayne was most likely to go if any but would of been unfair.

Dawson hit on Selwood was unavoidable.
He was in mid air to block a handball as he was coming down Selwood ran into him.
Dawson cant move sideways in mid air so the only person who could of avided contact was Selwood.

Still not happy with us being made out to look dirty in the media.
When Geelong gave just as much if not more its just the Freo players dont whinge and bring it to everyones attention.

From my sober replay of the game viewing i remember these as reportable incidents.
Q1 players on ground in geelong forwardline holding the ball in for ball up, Selwood stomps on a Freo players leg.
Q2 with around 16-17mins on clock, top of screen see Crowley bent over holding guts(suspected gut punch)
Less than 1min later we see Mayne down on all 4s after a gut punch from Enright?
Im sure more happened in the following quarters but i was enjoying the performance too much to keep an eye on all the dirty stuff.

If they said didn't connect with a clenched fist then Dawson could still have been charged with attempted striking.

MRP has laid two charges and assessed a further 3 incidents in detail from week one of the finals:
Corey Enright reprimanded??? But from all reports we were the bad guys and this incident was never mentioned.

Mayne was just hunched over from running so much...

Im glad the MRP got something right
