I did have Danyle Pearce there before Thompson but i didn't think Port would go for that.

also note the trade is looking at trading Rusty who has played most games this year for the Blues and swapping him for someone who isnt playing in the Port Team!

Port don't really need tall forwards though they have 3 young forwards the two Westhoffs and Salter who all look better than Hartlett

There's no point trading JR for a player that has shown even less than he has.

JR has a spot in the side, at least for now. Thomson would just be coming on to the list for a midfield spot behind a lot of our current players.

I wouldn't mind Thomson as a depth player, but even that is too much to give up for him.

We are talking about trading Russell who - despite what everyone on this site says - has played 21/22 games for the year for a bloke who can't even break into arguably the worst side this season and a TWO spot upgrade??

Russell is still very much in the MC's plan so a 2 pick upgrade and an inferior player is a no-no.

The same people "bagging" Russell are also the ones who bitched that Pagan continually played the wrong players and therefore he needed to go.
Therefore, by consequence Ratten has to go because he has played ALL YEAR a player all the "goodie two shoes, know it all group" says is bloody useless.
So Ratten is the same as Pagan. Got know idea and persists with the wrong players.
