It won't end up pick 9 when Sydney s move up draft order for mills ... It will effectively be pick 10 :(
Not sure why people keep saying this. The only way we have any claim on any of the QLD/NSW players is if we bid on them and the original club won't pay that much, then we have to take them with the pick we bid. In reality they are not guys we ever had access to.

The benefit we get from them is that if Syd/Bris/GWS have to pay up in draft picks all their lower picks get shuffled down the draft, so they either go into massive draft pick debt or they trade out guys like Hampton, Jetta and Redden so they can afford all the guys they want.

If someone bids a top 5 pick for Mills, Sydney will have to sort out how to get the numbers to get him, if everyone is stupid and the top bid is lower than our pick 13 then we still get the 13th best accessible guy available, just at pick 14 instead of 13.

Highly rated junior every chance to come good like Polec. Toumpas played most of the season in the AFL champ.

Yes because 9 is most of the season ;)

Been a very underwhelming pick for Melbourne, hopefully the move works out for him.

More than Lowden and Cheney :)

Cheney played 12 :)

And i'm happy for Lowden to never play a game, means Sauce is injury free (Or O'Brien has kept improving).

Not really no. Looked incredibly ordinary at Melbourne, a place where genuinely good young talent stands out like a sore thumb.

In a shallow draft if Port are getting him at a cheap price, Toumpas could be a bargain.

He's had 3 years development and would be no more risky than a player pick 40 odd.

Maybe, maybe not, but he's hardly a player worth emptying the cot over.

Brisbane putting their foot down in public isn't about Aish. Aish is gone, it's about creating a circumstance where the AFL is compelled to step in and give back the retention bonuses and add some academy concessions. Losing Aish for nothing and forgoing Hawthorn's pick 17/18 is small potatoes compared to the long term benefits of getting those from the AFL.

Interstate clubs all need assistance, there are too many clubs in Vic to raid them, and non football states are even worse off

GEORGE HEWETT

29/12/95, 185cm, 79kg, North Adelaide

Hewett has a lot of admirers and with good reason. He has neat skills on both sides of his body and is prepared to put his head over the ball, win it, and then come out with it. He had a good carnival with the South Australian under-18 side and also has a lot of upside - he is the youngest player in the draft as he doesn't turn 18 until December 29.

Is he better than M Crouch?

SEN saying Toumpas is headed to Port Adelaide and Ben Kennedy is on the block too, but likely going to Melbourne, perhaps in a deal for Jeremy Howe.

This is a guy who won't come cheap, and cheap is the only way I would take him. Incredibly inconsistent.

So we recruit them against their will? Guys like Neale and Murdoch obviously don't want to leave their current clubs, Cats won't give up Cockatoo under any circumstances and Bennell has shown he wants to be in Western Australia. There's not much the Crows can do about any of that.

Maybe stop the pity party and grow a pair?

We have the capital to be major players and if we can't get the deals done then maybe it's not time for boo hoo not our fault.

The art of business is persuasion, coercion, haggling and closing deals. That's the job.

Rumours on our board that Lowden could be coming to Richmond. Apparently sat at the richmond table at the Brownlow (I don't have confirmation on this) and is good mates with Dimma.

I know he's only been with you guys for a year, but what would it take to lure him back to Melbourne?
